Today, my parents got me a new computer for my birthday. They also took the liberty of throwing out my old computer, with 8 years of photos, videos, music, documents, emails, and bookmarks on it. But that's okay, I had a backup. They threw that out too. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I got a laptop for my birthday. I was thrilled until I realized that my mom had given away my old one without asking. 6 years of games, music, and pictures down the drain. FML
Today, I got a new computer because my old one crashed, deleting all music, photos, and documents. I still had all my music on my iPod though, and went to sync it to the new computer. By accident, my younger brother pulled the cord out before it was done, deleting all 3,000 songs forever. FML
Today, I deleted a load of junk that was messing up my mother's computer. I don't know how I'm going to tell her I accidentally wiped out all of her wedding photos. FML
Today, I took the motherboard out of my computer so I could put more RAM and a new video card in. While I was in the bathroom my mom threw it all out because it 'looked like garbage'. FML
Nice way to end the day
Today, I worked a short shift at work, getting sent home early because it was slow. In the time I was gone, my family decided surprise me by rearranging my room and put in my new desk. They also surprised me when I learned that they'd spilled a slushie on my very expensive computer. FML
Today, my parents bought my 11-year-old brother a MacBook for my birthday. FML
Haters Gonna Hate
Today, my dad's new girlfriend's daughter came over with them. She had a tantrum because my brand new computer, which I worked and saved for, was better than her notebook, which was bought for her. So what did she do? Oh, she threw it off my desk. For some reason I'm being yelled at. FML
Today, my computer stopped working. Me, the technology challenged one, decided to do a system recovery on it hoping that I could make it better. Turns out, system recovery means deleting all the files off the computer including family photos, music and assignments and starting fresh. FML
Today, I got a birthday package from my parents. It was all the stuff I'd forgotten there when visiting a month ago, along with some other things I'd left behind when I moved out. FML
Today, my computer crashed and lost all of its data while I was making a back up. FML

why would they throw out your old computer?are they idiots? I don't think anyone is that stupid... I think this is either fake, or you have the STUPIDEST parents in the world. if this is real and you just have parents who have been living under a rock for the past 15 years, YLIF.

Crap o_o Nobody should ever throw out someone else's property, even if you have bought them a new one. Clearly your parents know jack about computers.

Tell them that a computer is like a photo album. Throw out the computer without asking and your entire past goes with it.

You know they have to be killed now right?

If my parents did this to me, I'd claim their house and car for myself and kick them out. I would also throw away their ID and throw mud at them. Then I'd call the cops and tell them "Some crazy hobos are trespassing on my property". People who screw with other people's computer should be put to death. This is one of the worse crimes ever. And I'm dead serious.

The more I read stories like this, the more I'm thankful my parents had never been like that. How could they just decide to think and act for you will always be a mystery to me. FYL.
