Today, my mother told me I'm going to get lung cancer. Because she smokes. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Bullseye
Today, my mother called me and told me that she went to the hospital. This wasn't a surprise 'cos she normally goes to the hospital for the smallest things. I was a smartass and asked, "What now? You finally have lung cancer from all those cigarettes?" Apparently, she does. FML
Thanks mom
Today, I learned that I may have lung cancer. I've never smoked a day in my life but it could be from secondhand smoke exposure from all the years of my mom smoking around me. FML
NOT NOW!
Today, while driving me to the hospital because I was having an asthma attack, my mother lit a cigarette. FML
Today, my mom told me I'm the reason she's going to kill herself one day. FML
Today, in front of a hospital, I noticed that an old lady was having trouble lighting her cigarette because she had Parkison's. So I went to help her to light it up and she then started chatting with me and told me she had lung cancer. FML
Today, my future mother-in-law told me she thought I was severely allergic to cigarette smoke. That hasn't stopped her from chain-smoking around me for the last 3 years. FML
Smoking kills
Today, my grandmother - who has been a heavy smoker for almost forty years, and does not believe in the dangers of smoking - was diagnosed with COPD. Also, I'm now at a greater risk of developing COPD because of her (and my parents, who also smoke). FML
Today, it's the third day since my mum quit smoking, and I realised that her health-drive is having a negative effect on my own health when she bitch slapped me down the stairs because she didn't get a joke I told her. FML
Bad Luck Brian
Today, my doctor told me that my lungs are as bad as a 60-year-old heavy smoker's. I'm 19 and I've never touched a cigarette in my life. FML
You hypocrite
Today, my mother lectured me about going to the bar too often. She did this while rolling a joint. FML

What your mom REALLY means depends on your age. If you are under 18, she really means, "The minute you turn 18, move the **** out." If you are 18 or older, she means, "Move the **** out NOW." Glad I could clear that up for you.

This is quite possible, due to secpnd hand smoke.

Three of my family members have died of lung cancer and none of them smoked, but they all worked with or lived with smokers. You can't say that OP will be fine because you are. Especially because I assume you are young and have another 60-80 years of life left. You could still develop cancer. OP may be ok, or not. But your experience isn't enough evidence.

Does she plan on breathing her smoke at you?

quite frankly, that isn't entirely true. She has just as almost as high of risk of getting lung cancer as her mother. Percentage doesn't guarantee anything. I'm a nurse practitioner, I've been one for 11 years. Regardless of 2nd hand smoking or smoking in general, anybody can get lung cancer. People who smoke have an insanely high risk of lung cancer and many other types of cancer. Particles count as a lot... we as humans are made of them and cells, it's fighting fire with fire. Christopher Reeves wife didn't smoke, and 2nd hand killed her with lung cancer. People who smoke don't always realize these things because the addiction is in their heads to care less about risks and how many people they affect every day. Look it up... I studied for weeks on smoking alone in university. I don't smoke personally, but my ex-husband did.
