Today, my mother kindly brought me some soup as was recovering from having my tonsils out. Spicy Mexican bean soup. Yep, very spicy. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Merry Christmas!
Today, I showed up at my mom’s with homemade soup, since she said she wasn’t hosting Christmas Eve because she had the flu. My entire family was there without me. FML
Today, I was miserable with a cold. So I ordered soup and noodles from a new Chinese restaurant. Now I am miserable with a cold and food poisoning. FML
Gross out
Today, I had some soup that my dad made. I took one sip and found he had put tons of hot sauce in it. I rushed to drink from a soda can sitting on the counter, only to find that my mom had used it as an ash tray the night before. I can still taste the hot sauce, and the ash. FML
Today, I drove my mom home from the salon because she was feeling sick. I'm not the best driver, but I was excited that I was helping. Everything was going smoothly until I hit a bump in the road. My mom blew chunks all over. I found out very quickly that she had spicy chicken for lunch. FML
Today, as I'm pregnant, my mom came over to do some nice things for me, such as clean my kitchen and cook a large pot of my favorite soup. When she left, I took a nap, planning to eat later. I woke up to find my roommates had trashed my kitchen and eaten all my soup. FML
Scoville
Today, my boyfriend made dinner. He warned me that it was spicy, but I laughed at him and said that white guys don't know spicy. Five minutes later, I had to beg for milk, with my eyes streaming and nose pouring. Turns out I was wrong. FML
Zero stars on Trip Advisor
Today, I have an awful stomach virus. I can only drink liquids and can't eat anything solid, especially anything spicy. My dad forced me to eat the fajitas he'd made for dinner and screamed at me when I told him I couldn't, then screamed at me again for "wasting food" when I predictably threw up all over the floor. FML
Today, I got my wisdom teeth out. Afterwards, my parents thought it would be a great idea to have my favourite meal. I got to watch them enjoy it. FML
I told you so
Today, my parents brought home lunch from a shady grocery store deli. They mused about how hard I am to feed because I turned it down; the last time I ate anything from there, it gave me botulism, and it tastes horrible anyway. They both got sick. Now I'm playing nurse to both. No apologies yet. FML
Revenge is sweet
Today, my mom was acting really pissy, and I couldn't help but mutter that she must be on her period. Five hours later, I'm glued to the toilet with my phone, because she went all out for revenge and spiked my dinner with some hellishly potent kind of laxative. FML

Yeesh you have my sympathies. I had my tonsils removed when I was pretty young and I very stupidly tried to eat 1. Biscuits and 2. Tortilla chips at some point... I recommend you try neither

If OP is anything like me, then spicy soup is something that helps sore throats. Don't ask me how it works, idk either. But spicy soup after surgery was a bad choice. Especially since they burn the tonsils off as one of the forms of removal these days. Mom probably didn't listen to doctor's words.

Welp... I haven't had my tonsils removed but I did have a roommate who made me kimchi ramen the night I got my lip pierced. I don't recommend that either. Ice pops might help soothe your throat. Recover quickly.

I got my tonsils out when I was really young too, I just remember eating a lot of ice cream and stuff like that

That's going to be one hell of a bathroom trip.

Who cares about the bathroom trip? I'd be more concerned about the scarred throat tissue being lit on fire by spicy food, first off. I need my tonsils out too, on another note. Been sick with tonsillitis on and off since April.

Well on the bright side, although it might sting a bit, you have mexican bean soup. :D

Sore mouth and ring sting. Great combo.

One would hope you could have smelled the spicy soup and made a judgement that capsaicin on fresh wounds isn't good... ...but since this is an fml we'll say lessons learned, and maybe your mother will get something more mild/sensible like chicken noodle or vegetable for your next meal...
