Today, my mother-in-law gave me a toaster and a fork as a wedding gift. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my mom sent me beautiful candlesticks along with some half burned candles. I thanked her. She told me the candlesticks were a wedding gift to my grandmother 85 years ago. Then she said the candles were used at my grandma's wedding. I had already lit them. FML
Today, I walked into my mother's house to find that she had knitted clothes for some of the household appliances. The toaster was wearing a dress. FML
Today, my mother-in-law gifted us with a new microwave. I told her it was too much and we didn't really need it. Her response, "I just want my grandkids to have food that tastes good for once." I'm a chef. FML
They're all yours
Today, I was having a garage sale and my mother-in-law came by to see what I was selling. She decided to buy these ugly green wine glasses that were still unopened. It turns out that she gave those to my wife and me when we got married. FML
Respect
Today, my mother-in-law took a phone message on the back of my marriage license. FML
Today, while making a grand show of his generosity, my boss gave me my own commissions as a wedding gift. FML
Oh no, oh no no no
Today, my mother-in-law became my boss. FML
Today, after telling my mother-in-law about my recent miscarriage, she cheerfully made a cake to celebrate. FML
Today, my mother-in-law purchased matching Christmas presents for myself and my sister-in-law to open together in front of everyone. Guess who are now the proud owners of matching metal tampon cases. FML
Today, my soon to be mother-in-law sent me a birthday present. It was a necklace for me to wear at my wedding. The pendant is a well known lesbian symbol. I'm a woman and I'm marrying her son. FML

I don't get why OP thinks this makes her a monster in law? Be grateful for getting anything...

Turn your toaster on and put a fork in it
ahippienamedrae 10
Because you don't put metal in a toaster

Yeah and I bet if in the future they have a baby shower she'll think OP will need a metal coat hanger as a gift.

#42 Well sure, but not so nice to start your marriage with your mother-in-law implying you should electrocute yourself.

Of course OP, she probably forgot the whole set of utensils, that's obviously what's going on here.. But probably not.

If it's one of those toasters that can hold four slices of bread then she's awesome, if not, **** her.
AnOriginalName 19
Regardless of whether she's awesome, I think OP would rather **** her son/daughter.

My parents love my sisters fiancé and his parents love my sister so this is not always the case

My parents and sister-in-laws love each other so much. We all live 5 minutes from each other and see each other a few days a week. One of my sisters (in law) comes over almost every weekday morning with her kids to have coffee with my mom and I while the kids play. She actually sees, loves and gets along with, my parents better than her own. We're all extremely close. Every time I read FML and it's about in-laws I am so so thankful that my sisters-in-law and family get alone and love each other so much. Some of these stories are crazy.
