Today, my mom had my girlfriend and me over. Out of the blue, she pulled out my grandmother's wedding ring and gave it to me saying I can now propose. My girlfriend started screaming and said yes. I have been seeing someone else for 3 months and was going to break up with my girlfriend tomorrow. FML

Today, my girlfriend's mom pulled me aside and started telling me about how her daughter was extremely depressed and suicidal before she met me, and how happy her family is because of me. I was planning on breaking up with her within the next week. FML
Today, I went to my girlfriend's house to break up with her. It was a hard decision and both of us became quite emotionally overwhelmed at the time. We began to hug as a final goodbye, then her mum burst in the room and yelled, "HE FINALLY PROPOSED!" FML
Today, I invited my girlfriend over to a family lunch, planning to propose to her at just the right moment. My family was in on it, including my apparently disapproving mom, who kept causing a scene to grab my girlfriend's attention every time I went to pull out the ring. FML
Today, I was lying in bed minding my own business when my mom entered the room. I was proposed to a few weeks ago by my boyfriend, and my mom came in to tell me that my boyfriend's mom was on the phone. Turns out, he stole the engagement ring from her drawer. FML
Today, my girlfriend of two years finally agreed to marry me. As I went on with the proposal, her Grandma tried rejecting me by saying, "These guys have gangster friends." FML
Today, another man proposed to my girlfriend. She said yes. FML
Today, I proposed to my girlfriend while we were on my couch having a romantic moment. She seemed incredibly excited when she saw the ring and put it on. The way she bolted out the door tells me I'm not going to see her again. FML
Today, my girlfriend told me she wanted get to know my mom, so they went off and had a chat. After an hour, I noticed my girlfriend was gone and my mom was waiting for me. Apparently I've been dumped through my mother. FML
Today, I took my girlfriend of five and a half years to family dinner at a restaurant. After we all had finished dessert, I got down on one knee, pulled out my great grandmother's ring and proposed. The entire restaurant was dead silent. She looked around and then slowly walked out. FML
Today, my girlfriend dumped me for someone else. An hour earlier I had just gotten permission from her dad to propose. FML

What, are you serious, guy? "Just three months" and "he was gonna break up with her" doesn't change anything. He played that poor girl for three months of her life and I doubt he started it from the get-go, making her waste even MORE than three months of her life with him. Just because he was PLANNING on breaking up with her doesn't mean not one thing. If he was going to break up with her, he shouldn't have continued to lead her on for three whole months and even then brought her to his mother's house! I mean, who DOES that? Clearly, he is in a kickass situation now that he fully deserves. He can either continue playing the girl through marriage and then get caught, causing her to divorce him and take half of his possessions OR he can face the humiliating task of breaking up with her, crushing her happiness over marriage, and then go through the arduous task of returning his grandmother's ring to his mother. Goodness forbid she ask why and he has to lie about his girl breaking up with him because his mother could easily run into her and start talking about it in a public place. All I'm really trying to say is he's going to have a hell of a hard time playing himself out of this one, and that's good. As for the girlfriend, I hope she realizes what an asshole he is and knows to raise the bar for her future partners so that she may never find herself in this kind of situation again.

ACTUALLY, you are the one that needs to go back to school. The_Almighty_Twi was correct, it should be "my girlfriend and me" because it occurs in the predicate of the sentence. Had it been the subject, then it should have been "my girlfriend and I," but this is not the case. Please get your facts straight before you insult someone and say they need to go back to school.
