Today, I got a bill from my former attorney for the call he made to me begging me not to turn him in for stealing all my money and almost causing me lose my home. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my lawyer threatened to sue me because I can't afford his bill, which he sent to me after getting me out of a lawsuit. FML
Fight!
Today, I got a call from the county’s courthouse where I used to live saying I was being sued for fraud and expected in court to defend myself. Apparently, my ex took a loan out in my name and now I get to pay $2300 worth of legal fees and restitution to this loan company. FML
Cheeky
Today, my ex got arrested for stealing. His new girlfriend texted me asking if I could lend her money to bail him out. FML
Today, I found that there were charges of almost 2,000 dollars on my bank account. Some asshole in Florida stole my money. I have bills and that was money I saved to buy myself a new car. FML
The cheek of some people
Today, the girl my ex-husband cheated on me with, and left me for, called me and asked for money to bail him out of jail. She asked me because I have my own business and I'm financially stable. FML
Today, the extremely uncooperative client whom I'm trying to defend in court sent me a letter in which he threatened to sue me, because charging him for my services supposedly violates his "constipational rights". FML
Bled dry
Today, my ex-husband stopped paying his child support so when I phoned to threaten him with lawyers, he didn’t care. Apparently, he lost his job months ago and has been paying me out of his savings, but now he has absolutely nothing left I can take away from him. Now I feel bad. FML
Blame game
Today, my dad tried to blame me for ringing an out of network number for two hours, which charged his bill by the minute. I rang the number, which turned out to belong to one of his business pals who lives abroad. He punished me anyway for having an attitude when I proved the call was his fault. FML
Call the cops
Today, my ex friend turned half the school against me, saying I stole and damaged her phone, both lies. Things escalated and she threatened to jump me if I didn't apologize. I apologized but now she's making me pay money for something I didn't do, and I'm seriously considering a restraining order. FML
You've been served
Today, my recent ex-boyfriend stopped by my house with a well-dressed man. He reached into his pocket and handed me records that "prove" he never cheated on me. Oh, and the man next to him? His lawyer, who gave me a summons to court over payment for the items I smashed when I dumped him. FML

As you're no longer his client, the bill is null. So I wouldn't worry about it. Sorry to hear about him duping you though. Hopefully he gets his just desserts.

Report him to your local Bar Association. If it's bad enough they might disbar him. Also, if he caused you harm or cost you money, sue him. If it's a small amount, take him to small claims court. That way you avoid using another lawyer altogether.

I hope he got what he deserved for doing that.

The attorney can take that bill, turn that sumbitch sideways, and stick it straight up his candy ass. People that wrong others and and beg the people they wronged not to talk are some of the most morally degenerate people out there.

You ought to go to his office and kick him right in the briefs.

Shouldn't he know a better way than to beg his client not to turn him in, being an attourney and all? Wait, that does explain things

Why don't you turn him in? Have his license to practice law revoked.

Well, he almost lost his house over it, so I doubt it was a small amount

I didn't want to assume. He may have nearly cost them their house by not filing paperwork and not involved a lot of money at all. This nearly happened to a friend of mine where it was the bank that caught it and fixed it. Theft of money is another matter altogether and Will cause a disbarment.

Fair point

If you didn't turn him in, then YDI.

Contact the state bar and file a complaint. There is no excuse for stealing client funds and I'm pretty sure begging to not be turned in isn't working on your case, even if he begged for over 6 minutes.

I hope that you turned him in the first place. And also don't pay the bill. Absolutely ridiculous.

Former attorney as in OP is no longer his client, not that he's no longer an attorney.
