Today, my husband refused to let our 7-week-old daughter have a pacifier, because he doesn't want her growing up to be a "whore." FML

msmidnight1965 tells us more.

We have those orthodontic ones that help with oral development. They also resemble the nipple during breast feeding.

what the? that's not okay.

Explain to him that it comes with a ring attached, so it's okay.

Having a pacifier won't turn her into a *****. Having an asshole for a dad might.

She's little she won't even remember sucking on it...but if he found some other substitute for it then good for him...

hand her to him when next she cries... lets see how he handles that

Maybe your husband has pacifier-envy?

Really?? Really.O_o Oh, really -_-........

Yes. Yes really.

It's actually good that she have a pacifier, if you research Freud's stages of child development, the lack of oral stimulation at a young age can lead to bad habits in the future. No lecture here just sharing info.

Freud is not respected in about 90% of psychology today. Almost everything he came up with has been discredited with the exception of some parts of schema theory (an explanation of why children will call all 4 legged animals dogs until they learn they are cats or deer, etc).

Didn't Freud's own daughter work to discredit most of his theories?

Dear god, I dread the moment when your daughter goes through the "naked" phase
