Today, my husband and I broke the news that I'm pregnant. Our 8-year-old son's reactions so far have been crying inconsolably, trying to punch me in the stomach, and swearing that he won't let me give him a brother or sister. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
The good son
Today, my husband and I sat our 8 year-old son down and gently explained to him that I had a miscarriage and he won't be having a little brother or sister after all. He responded by dancing around the room and celebrating. FML
Good news
Today, I told to my son that I'm pregnant. After I'd told him, he looked up and yelled, "Fuck this shit!" and walked out of the room. My son is nine years-old. FML
Bad timing?
Today, I found out that I'm pregnant. I buried my 8-year-old son two weeks ago and had my husband serve me divorce papers three days ago. FML
Today, on Maury…
Today, my husband of four years finally told me he has an eight-year-old son. FML
No refunds
Today, after my 4 year-old was so excited to be a big sister, hugging my belly every chance she got, counting down the days till the due date, my son was born this morning. She took one look at him and declared, “I don’t like him, leave him here, do we have to keep him?” then started crying. FML
Today, over a family dinner, my husband and I told everyone that I'm pregnant. My father frowned and said, "Again?", my 9-year-old daughter started crying, and her brother smirked and yelled, "Up the ass, no babies!" FML
Unexpected
Today, I excitedly told my husband that I'm expecting our second child. He ripped up the sonogram and yelled at me to "fucking get rid of it" while jabbing me in the chest. FML
Good news!
Today, I told my family I’m pregnant again. My boyfriend is now sat outside, crying and getting drunk. My oldest son is looking at apartments for rent because he doesn’t want to be around screaming babies again, and my younger two are crying because they don’t want another sibling either. FML
Today, we told my fiancé's parents that I'm pregnant. His mom's response? "I'm going to throw up. You can't raise a child." We are both 28, self-sufficient and everyone else is thrilled. FML

Today, my husband and I had a huge fight. I have a son from a previous relationship who he loves, but he wants more kids. My son is 9, almost 10, he's so used to being my baby that I can't bring myself to take that from him by having another baby. FML

My sister was very upset when we found out we were getting a younger sister too. It'll get better when he realizes you won't abandon him for the new kid.

Wow. I really hope you're not letting him off lightly for trying to punch you in the stomach, that's scary.

I would definitely keep an eye on him when the baby is born. Maybe he'll change his mind, who knows, but this is a scary way to react.

give your son a little more time to digest...

Punish him when he tries to punch you, it's never okay for a kid to hit an adult unprovoked. But otherwise it sounds like a reasonable way to react, if he doesnt want a sibling he's not exactly going to be enthusiastic. He'll just have to live with it whether he likes the new baby or not.

Tell him that you'll still love him when the new child comes, and that he must never punch you in the stomach, or anywhere for that matter.

We are going through this with my 3 year old. I picked him up and locked him in his room. Had to, to protect myself and the baby. When he calms down talk to him about how he is feeling. Ask him why he does not want a little sibling. If you involve him during your pregnancy, it can help as well. (Helping to pick out the crib, baby sheets, etc. and when the baby is born, holding it, etc. That will help him to cope and bond.)
