Today, my fiancée "thought I should know" that she has a $125,000 student loan debt. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I found out that my girlfriend of almost 6 years has put me in debt over $33,000. FML
Today, my boyfriend of two years asked me to marry him so that we can consolidate our student loans. FML
Bonus dilemma
Today, my girlfriend told me she got a hefty bonus at work and will pay off my credit card debt. I was gonna break up with her because I’d been working on resolving things with my ex-girlfriend. FML
That's nice, but…
Today, my husband announced the reason he had been working since much is because he had secretly paid off my tens of thousands of student loans. I then had to tell him I'm leaving him for his best friend. FML
Today, I found out my fiancée has been sleeping with the salesman I bought her engagement ring from. He knew. FML
Break it off
Today, I found out that my fiancée wishes she'd never said yes when I proposed, as she is in love with another man, and has been hiding their relationship for years. FML
Forgive student debt now!
Today, I was watching a TV show about people with shopping addictions. One girl was $15,000 in debt and I thought how horrible it would be to live with that. Then I realized that I'm in medical school and currently $135,000 in debt. At least they have something to show for their debt. FML
Today, my fiancé told me he didn't have the money to make payments on my engagement ring and that I either have to return it, or make the payments myself. Now we aren't engaged any more, and are "dating." FML
Babe, I have something to share…
Today, my wife waited until we’d been married for two weeks to tell me she has a mountain of credit card debt that she’s been hiding from me. This explains why she insisted the mortgage and car be in my name, her credit score is so low that it’s almost a double digit FML
Treat yourself
Today, my fiancée bought me a luxury getaway to the Maldives, complete with a five-star hotel and first-class plane tickets. Too bad she used my credit card, with all the money I was saving for our wedding. FML

Aw come ON now. If that was the only way she could pay for her education, you should be proud that she did so and didn't just sit around and be a bum. (Assuming, of course, that she's working.) If she's expecting you to pay for it all, that's one thing. But I'd guess she's going to be doing it herself, just maybe needing a little help here and there. OVer the next 50 years.....

I'd be pissed if she told me after the marriage!

At least she didn't marry you and then spring that little bit of news on you.

#5.. no. Just no. When you get married, funds are shared. What did you think would happen? He would be eating a steak dinner while she had a bowl of rice? He drives to work while she bikes? Hope things work out... but damn.

Yeah, so? Your wife to be has student loan debt. She probably has a great job that goes with it like a doctor, lawyer or MBA. That's the way the system works. Not an FML. Not even close. You have a fiance who wanted to make sure she didn't surprise you with something important. Man up.

What'd you do, marry him in Vegas the night you met him?

I think you're a dick for making this an FML. If you actually love her (which, I hope, is why you're getting married in the first place) so what? It's not like she's not doing anything with the education that put her in that debt (assumption) And with combined incomes you'll be able to pay it of with money to spare.

How is this NOT an FML? It doesn't matter if she 'plans on paying it off herself' as many people assume, when two people get married, they share financial burdens. You don't see one spouse losing the house for not paying their part of the bill and the other get stay for being able to pay it off, do you? And as much as love matters in a marriage, it doesn't mean shit when you're paying the bills and trying to keep a roof over your head and food in your mouth. Either way, they're both screwed because she has to pay it off and if he marries he, he's partially responsible for her debt. So FYL for having to choose, and for her springing it up like that at the last possible moment.
