Today, my fiancé confronted me about our wedding arrangements. Apparently, if he's not allowed to wear a duct-tape tuxedo and have a Jesus impersonator as his best man, the wedding is off. FML

Hey guys, OP here. I agreed to the Jesus as the best man but not the tux. No, I'm not going to dump him or call the wedding off because of his ideas, since it isn't just the woman's day but his too. It isn't too terrible to have have a little spunk at Our wedding ;P

I believe that weddings are all about the joining of two people, not just females.

A marriage is a serious thing and far too many people are not serious enough about it. Imagine. On this day you are making a commitment BEFORE GOD so is that the time you want to be wearing a duct tape suite with a Jesus parody at your side? And if you don't GET that perhaps you can see that you might want to be serious when you are making a vow to live with and love one person for the rest of your life? Now the parties before and after the wedding are times to let it all hang out and he could come dressed as Peter Pan if he wanted. But if he insisted on going on with the farce I would suggest that you at least delay the wedding until you can see if he's a keeper or just a good looking, funny and charming immature punk. But, of course, I could be wrong (but I don't think so).

Sounds immature. I don't see why you should marry him in the first place if he's going to be like that.

I don't think any of the guys understand the situation. Weddings are supposed to be traditional, not silly and stupid. Fun and games can be used later but a wedding should the most memorable event to a man and woman. I know it takes a while for men to mature and women mature faster, but this is rediculous.

Wedding's off then, if he can't be mature about it.

....I don't think he's ready for marriage if he can't be serious for a very special day for the both of you...

It's his day too.

That doesn't mean he shouldn't be mature and formal about it. It's her day too.

You should probably wait until he matures a bit more.

Groom-zilla is going to come back with, "But this is what I want! You don't want to take my wishes into account on our wedding day?!" I'd find out which of his jerkoff friends put the idea into his stupid head.

my husband and I are both in our 30s and it was our second marriages. we originally were going traditional but when he suggested going after his favorite book, I said "okay, why not?" we ended up having an AWESOME costume wedding themed after Alice in Wonderland. right down to me bleaching my hair and dressing as Alice, he was the Mad Hatter, his oldest son was his best man dressed as The March Hare..... it was fun and reasonably unique. in the end, the marriage is what's important, and making beautiful and fun memories!!
