Today, my father told me that it wasn't that I was written out of his will, it's that he never thought to include me in the first place. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Embarrassment
Today, at the reading of my mother's last will and testament, I found out that despite having cared for her for the final years of her life, she denied me an inheritance. She basically said I'm an embarrassment, because when she wrote it, I was 31 years-old, with no wife or children. FML
Cold
Today, my dad justified leaving two of my three kids out of his will because they’re adopted and so not really his proper grandchildren, telling me I can’t seriously expect him to just give his money to people who aren’t real family members. FML
Today, I found out that 15 years ago my father threw out my college acceptance letters so that I could stay home and take over the family's funeral home business. FML
Today, I found out why my dad always treated me badly as a kid compared to my siblings. It's because I was conceived while my mom was cheating on him. On top of that, he made it clear that he still doesn't consider me a "real" part of the family. FML
Harsh
Today, my estranged father died. No one bothered to tell me, and the only reason I found out was because his wife texted my sister. When I asked about the service, I was told I was not welcome in the state he had lived in, because I was no longer family. FML
Do you deserve it, though?
Today, I tried to reconcile with my estranged father after learning that all the things my mom said were lies to turn me against him. He refused and told me that he has a new daughter and that I'm not part of the picture. I know I deserve it but… FML
Today, my father called me to ask what my middle name is. He apparently needed to know it to remove me out from his will. FML
Today, my dad, who lives hours away, called and told me he was getting married. Today. As in this evening. Guess I'm not invited. FML
Today, I found out that my father died a little over a year ago. I don't know what's worse; the fact that I don't care or the fact that in his will all he wanted was me not to attend his funeral. FML
Final words
Today, in his will, my dad laid the blame squarely at my feet for his depression, alcoholism, liver failure, suicide attempt and eventual death, not because of anything I did, just for being born in the first place. He never wanted a kid, resented becoming a dad and drank to make the depression bearable. FML

Oh, that sucks, OP! But I wouldn't worry too much. If you were planning on killing him to get his stuff, you clearly have no problem breaking the law and could just steal it while he's alive.

Where there's a will, there's a way.

I was thinking more along the lines of killing the father then the family.. but I guess yours works too

I will not do that to my heirs.

Why are you even talking about this stuff? It's creepy.

I can't tell which is worse, to not think of you or to deliberately inform you that he didn't care to think of you...but, regardless, your father sounds subpar, and I'm sorry he said that to you, OP

Definitely to deliberately inform you is worse because he obviously did think of OP, but still didn't care enough to have him in his will

I'm curious to how this conversation came about. I'd gather a somewhat logical reason to not have someone like their own dang child in their will is due to having no relationship with the child for their entire or at least a vast majority of their life. so I'm not sure how one would find out from such a parent while they were still alive or from any post dad dying dedctions.. unless OP has a penchant for ouija boards.... The other thought I had is that perhaps OP'S dad is a total asshat for some reason or another, the could or could not be related to OP in some way or another. IDK. It seems to a cruddy situation no matter what the realities were however, is all I can really conclude. having a parent child relation that is less than stellar to nonexistent is very unfortunate. and being a child who feels (or knows) their parent doesn't really think or care about them sound awful as well... E-Hugs for OP!

My parents have discussed their wills with me, as has my grandma. Sometimes it's an important conversation to have so everyone is aware of what will happen in the event their death, so there's no surprises after such a traumatic experience, or decrease the chance of fighting, which can include the fact that some people will get nothing. Although, unless you have no relationship with the child, or they've always been on a bad, destructive path, that's a pretty dick move to not include or think of them.

Vote me down, but it is his choice. Maybe she wasn't the best kid, who knows. Being in someone's will is earned, not just given. Only person in my 'will' is my real brother but that's because we are close.

Brutal, he didn't even attempt to sugar-coat it
