Today, my crush was walking up to me and I put my earphones in, playing hard to get. When I heard him say something about a date I take an earphone out and say, "Oh, I didn't see you there!" His response, "They're not connected to anything," holds up the end of my earphones and walks away. FML

Today, I tried to flirt with a guy at the gym by commenting on his headphones, saying, “Nice headphones, you must be into music.” He stared at me blankly and said, “I’m not wearing any headphones, these are just my ears.” I swear I heard him laugh as I backed away, defeated. FML
Today, I asked my crush what music he was into, misheard his answer because of background noise, so I spent 5 minutes enthusiastically talking about a band he'd never heard of, thinking we were bonding. When he finally stopped me and clarified, I laughed too loudly out of shame, then knocked over my drink. FML
Today, I was on a date, everything was charming and fun, so I went in for a kiss. She turned her head at the last second, and I ended up kissing her ear. We both went on to pretend that it didn’t happen, but the silence was deafening. FML
Today, I was walking to school with my earphones in, when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I was shocked, and whirled around to hit him in the crotch. I soon realized he was just trying to return the commuter pass I'd dropped at the station. FML
Today, I was alone with a work acquaintance at lunch. A noise came from his pocket; he whipped out his iPod Touch and said "Sorry, I have to take this," before walking away with the iPod to his ear. Not only did he not want to talk to me, he thought I was stupid enough to confuse an iPod with a phone. FML
Today I was walking around the mall and I saw my crush from high school. He came up to me and, instead of talking to him, I burped, and he just walked away. FML
Today, I gathered the courage to ask my crush on a date. As I called her, she quickly answered and said "Can't talk right now, I'm in a movie theater." and then hung up. I'd called her home phone. FML
Today, I decided to talk to a girl at the gym I had seen there a lot. I walked up to her at the station she was at and asked her out to dinner sometime. I didn't realize she had been wearing headphones. She took them off and asked if I was waiting on the station. My courage left. I said yes. FML
Today, I was on the bus when my crush told me to come and sit with him. I got all excited, especially when he put his arm around me. He then whispered in my ear "Hey, is your friend over there single?" FML
Today, I went on a date I was really enjoying. My ex-boyfriend called halfway through. When I answered, he told me he wanted to get back together and couldn’t stop thinking about me. I didn’t realize my phone was on speaker. My date heard everything. FML

jesus, what you did isn't playing hard to get. what you did is obnoxious and makes you seem stuck up. Playing hard to get basically translates to not making yourself overly available. Don't call the person constantly, dont always say yes to the first date they propse ("OH Id love to go out with you, but I already have plans for Thursday night. Would you be available Friday or Saturday?" Get it? You dont want to act uninterested, you just want to show that you have an actual life.) What you, OP, pulled just came across as immature and probably made it look liek you weren't interested in your crush at all. Therefore. You totally deserve that one. Grow up a bit and then try dating.

To all the girls bemoaning "playing hard to get," as an adult, its not a game. Its just asserting independence and self worth. Playing hard to get doesn't mean playing games. It SIMPLY means not making yourself available all the time for a object of your affection. REAL men ARE attracted to this a) because they don't see it as a game and b) because they WANT independent women that aren't going to drop their lives for a guy. And men like the chase to a degree. You are too easy? They will potentially lose interest. And its not necessarily a primal need (although one could agrue that as well), its because they dont want someone that will be dependent on them or only be happy because of them. Again Independence.

See, this is why most girls get on my nerves. They try to analyze everything a guy does and they try way hard. ACT NORMAL. If he was your crush and he was obviously coming over to you, why the heck would you put your earphones in and ignore him? What is that gonna do? Just talk to him like a normal person.
