Today, my crush was walking up to me and I put my earphones in, playing hard to get. When I heard him say something about a date I take an earphone out and say, "Oh, I didn't see you there!" His response, "They're not connected to anything," holds up the end of my earphones and walks away. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
There was an attempt…
Today, I tried to flirt with a guy at the gym by commenting on his headphones, saying, “Nice headphones, you must be into music.” He stared at me blankly and said, “I’m not wearing any headphones, these are just my ears.” I swear I heard him laugh as I backed away, defeated. FML
Music nerd
Today, I asked my crush what music he was into, misheard his answer because of background noise, so I spent 5 minutes enthusiastically talking about a band he'd never heard of, thinking we were bonding. When he finally stopped me and clarified, I laughed too loudly out of shame, then knocked over my drink. FML
Charming
Today, I was on a date, everything was charming and fun, so I went in for a kiss. She turned her head at the last second, and I ended up kissing her ear. We both went on to pretend that it didn’t happen, but the silence was deafening. FML
Thanks…
Today, I was walking to school with my earphones in, when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I was shocked, and whirled around to hit him in the crotch. I soon realized he was just trying to return the commuter pass I'd dropped at the station. FML
Today, I was alone with a work acquaintance at lunch. A noise came from his pocket; he whipped out his iPod Touch and said "Sorry, I have to take this," before walking away with the iPod to his ear. Not only did he not want to talk to me, he thought I was stupid enough to confuse an iPod with a phone. FML
Good bye!
Today I was walking around the mall and I saw my crush from high school. He came up to me and, instead of talking to him, I burped, and he just walked away. FML
Today, I gathered the courage to ask my crush on a date. As I called her, she quickly answered and said "Can't talk right now, I'm in a movie theater." and then hung up. I'd called her home phone. FML
Defeated
Today, I decided to talk to a girl at the gym I had seen there a lot. I walked up to her at the station she was at and asked her out to dinner sometime. I didn't realize she had been wearing headphones. She took them off and asked if I was waiting on the station. My courage left. I said yes. FML
Today, I was on the bus when my crush told me to come and sit with him. I got all excited, especially when he put his arm around me. He then whispered in my ear "Hey, is your friend over there single?" FML
Alexa, play "I'm Not In Love" by 10CC
Today, I went on a date I was really enjoying. My ex-boyfriend called halfway through. When I answered, he told me he wanted to get back together and couldn’t stop thinking about me. I didn’t realize my phone was on speaker. My date heard everything. FML

You are such an idiot. This is why girls need to stop playing hard to get, they just make themselves look stupid, or you will do it too much and the guy will give up. How about just saying "Hi" next time like a normal person? YDI

Haha. I do that same thing, although I'm not trying to get, but instead ignore people, on the bus. I'll get on the bus and even though my iPod is dead from being on all day, I'll tuck the loose end in my pocket. Only backfire ever was when someone talked to me and I responded. The jig was up.

YDI for intentionally playing mindgames.

I've gotta jump back in to address those advocating playing hard to get. While the timeless art of seduction(Seinfeld fans?) is part of the appeal of the chase, they simply end up wasting everybody's time. My wife made me suffer through the annoying "he's just not into you" last night and I was irate with it after thirty minutes. ******* games will get you nothing but heartbreak. As the Bard so perfectly put it "to thy own self be true". Treat others as you would have them treat you. Good for love and good for life.

awww poor you but YDI for trying to "play hard to get" and failing.. lol i would've done the same thing though..don't worry, it happens to the best of us! To the people who left her such mean comments, She might have panicked like a normal infatuated teen would've reacted.. so stop judging her and calling her names. Smh, ya'll are acting as if you didnt go through teen life.

With a first impression like that, he'll be the one who's hard to get, not you. YDI, you dumb, shallow bitch.

#81, we should all act like the OP just to show that we're "independent women"? Yes, of course throwing yourself at a guy, abandoning all the rest of your life for him, isn't a good thing to do, but personally I'd prefer to show that I'm a mature and independent woman by simply talking to a man like he's my equal, not by acting like an untouchable princess. Can't people just treat each other like normal intelligent human beings? All this trying to prove you're one thing or the other (hard to get, independent, not stuck up, etc.) is so pathetic.

How does he know there's no music playing in your head? I wear my headphones all the time with nothing playing. It's just what I do. Playing hard to get though, it's generally a bad idea and it just makes you look stupid.

EPIC FAIL. if you're going to be retarded and play hard to get, at least know what you're doing. You just made yourself look like a loser and blew your shot at a date. YDI
