Today, my child-hating friend who vowed never to have any no matter what, announced that she's pregnant. I've had three IVF cycles, spent $90k in fertility treatments, and still can't conceive. FML

Today, I have been trying to get pregnant for 4 years. I’ve gone through numerous expensive fertility treatments with no success. A former friend of mine owes me almost $2K. I’ve asked for the money back numerous times so that I can use it to pay for another round of IVF. She won’t pay. She just announced that she's pregnant.. FML
Today, I was told that I will never be able to have children. Thankfully for my husband, his girlfriend sure can. FML
Today, my close friend who’s always been incredibly vocal about how much she hates children, never wants to be around them or have anything to do with them, stopped speaking to me. She’s incredibly "hurt" that I asked another friend to be my unborn child's godmother instead of her. FML
Today, my friend told me she wanted to get pregnant. I thought that was good news, but then she said she wanted my boyfriend to be the father of her baby. FML
Today, after years of trying, my husband and I did IVF, fertilized 5 eggs, and the whole process was really rough. Now, a year after giving birth to our daughter, my husband wants to use another egg, but I don’t want to go through that all again. FML
Today, my mother-in-law said: "People who don't have kids are children of the devil." I'm infertile, she knows this. FML
Today, we have three kids. Two were "natural" and our third was through expensive IVF. Of all three kids, only our IVF son turned out to be a real asshole. Now he’s going to jail for armed robbery and pushing a pregnant woman to the floor. Wish we’d saved that IVF money and paid off the mortgage. FML
Today, we recently found out I'm infertile, and I thought we were both devastated, until my partner posted a drunk video to Facebook, basically celebrating that we will never have, "crying, nappy-shitting, soul-sucking, bank account-draining little sods." FML
Today, I told my mom I was thinking of having a baby. She told me it was a huge mistake because children cost a fortune, make you miserable, and if she'd had her chance again she would have gotten her tubes tied when she was 18 and saved herself the grief. Gee, thanks mom. FML
Today, after four years of infertility, my wife and I found out our miracle pregnancy was going to be a boy; our first child. Twenty minutes later, we found out our child has a terminal genetic condition, and will die in the next 4 weeks. FML

For all those crying out for adoption: Bringing a child into your life is an INCREDIBLE responsibility, and some people don't feel like they could take on another person's child. This isn't selfish, it's REALISTIC. Children sense when they're not 100% loved, and they need a home where they'll be unquestionably part of the family. Adoption, while beautiful (and as an adopted child my self, I should know), isn't for everyone. If you TRULY want to do something about the hundreds of thousands of un-adopted children (in the US, at least), write to your senators pressuring for single-parent adoption and gay adoption to be made legal. Those are people who TRULY want those children, and would give them the love and home they deserve.

OP, give your body a little break before you try conceiving again. You're tiring yourself mentally I think. And if it still doesn't work after a while, you can always consider adoption. I looooove how life is ironic -___- I hate seeing people around me with kids they don't give a shit about and treat them badly, while seeing others (like my aunt) trying to conceive/ending up having multiple miscarriages when they really want children. :(

But adopting and treatments aren't easy for infertile people either. Not to mention the stress of knowing you can't conceive when you really want to have a kid. Then finding out your friend who always said she hated children is pregnant? That just seems like a blow to the OP when she found out. Yes, her friend could have tried and things have failed, but there are easier things she can do to get out of an unplanned pregnancy. I might not agree with them all, but if the OP's friend really hated children, then getting out of the pregnancy is the best option. But I highly doubt she'd do it since she told people she was pregnant. If someone wanted to abort, why tell people you were having a kid in the first place? Unplanned pregnancies are hard to deal with, but I wouldn't say it's harder to deal with than being infertile. And as for doctors that won't allow someone to get their tubes tied, the friend could have taken more steps to find a doctor that would have removed/tied them. It's her fault for not doing it and continuing to have sex. If you really don't want something, you'll do what it takes to prevent it. If you don't then it's your problem.

Damn OP. I'm really sorry to hear that. I am 24 and don't have any children, but I definitely do want children, just not now. I have been really reckless in my time, and it has crossed my mind that I may not be able to have children. I have had pap smears and have never been told that I have any fertility issues, but I have been in long term relationships with a few people and didn't use protection a lot, and have never been pregnant. Not that I wanted to be, it just made me worry that I can't have babies. As a woman, I feel like it is programmed in my DNA to want to have children. Clearly, not every woman feels this way, but I think it is more common than not. I don't know what I would do. I can't imagine what you are going through, and I'm sure it is horrible. So very sorry to hear that OP. Keep your head up, however cliche that sounds.

I know how you feel my sister and I are where you are. She hates kids and is now preggers and not taking care of herself at all. I want kids desperately and have only been able to conceive once and miscarried. Can't help but be a little bitter.

my friend wanted kids for years, never got pregnant. she finally gave up on it, and a few months later she was pregnant! can happen op- don't lose hope!

These days, more and more people are infertile. It's because of pollution and all the fake stuff we put in our food, along with cellphone radiation and such. Even drinking out of a plastic water bottle can cause infertility if the plastic has gotten into the water. Fish and other creatures are even changing genders (from pollution, that is, because some DO change their gender naturally)!!! Sprays and deodorants like Old Spice and Axe have toxic chemicals in them that can cause guys to become infertile. It's crazy.
