Today, my boyfriend wrecked our car. Now I can't get to work in order to make the money we need to buy a new one. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Thanks a lot!
Today, my girlfriend's dad let me borrow his car for transportation to work because mine got totaled. This car is a complete dump and I've realized he's only letting me use it so it's my fault to fix the broken things on the car. So far, I've had to replace the battery and two popped tires. FML
This is my life
Today, I need money to fix my car, I need my car to get to work, and I need work to get money. FML
Bad time for insurance denials
Today, my car broke down dead in the middle of the highway. As I was unable to get it out of the road, it was impounded, and my insurance won't help. Now I'm further in debt and struggling to get to work. FML
Insurance is a scam
Today, my fiancée wrecked my car so I had to use my other car to pick her up. Ten minutes after I did, my other car broke down in the middle of the road and I had to get it towed. My insurance covers none of these incidents. FML
Car brain
Today, I got woken up by my parents telling me I had to go buy a car so they could have transportation. Neither of their cars work, so I was letting them use mine, and then they wrecked it. It needs nearly a thousand bucks in repairs to be drivable again, but since it was my car, I have to replace it now to appease them. FML
Wrong place, wrong time
Today, I went to my boyfriend's house so that he could break up with me. I went out to my car to leave only to discover that all of the wheels had been stolen. Even the spare. I had to spend the rest of the day with my ex-boyfriend finding a way to get my car home. FML
And then.....
Today, I bought my very first car that I spent years saving for. A few hours after I signed all the papers, I let my boyfriend go for a test drive. He totaled it. FML
Costly spat
Today, my boyfriend and I got into a fight about a clogged toilet. He was yelling about not having enough money to buy a better plunger and so I stormed out to buy one myself. While pulling his truck into traffic, a car hit me causing $1000 in damage. FML
Independence day
Today, I got a text from my dad asking about my car in the shop. I'm trying to show them that I can actually be independent, but now they know that not only will it cost all my savings account to fix it, but also that my boyfriend will be driving me to work for the next month while the shop waits for the parts. FML
Today, my car broke down. My boyfriend, who is not too handy, insisted on fixing it. He called me outside and said he was done and started the engine. Moments after rejoicing, it burst into flames. FML

Insurance? If your boyfriend is driving uninsured or the car is uninsured then YDI. Otherwise there's no need to "work" to fix/get the car's money

Can a coworker or friends give you a ride?

Time to start up the good ol' chevrolegs!

See if you can borrow some money from someone, or find a carpool on Craigslist or something for a little money while you rebuild. As a last resort, time to wear warm clothes and bike/walk to work, and then post a video on YouTube and hope somebody will help you buy a car. This is why you full-coverage-insure things you can't afford to replace. :-(

Ever heard of public transportation or walking
blackonblight 33
If there's no public transport, chances are good it's too far to walk. I really doubt anyone wants to walk 20 miles, work a shift, then walk 20 miles back. When would you sleep?

there is always a way to get to work. bus, taxi, paying a friend for gas

Dead beat BF? If so release him from your pain and find a new one or get him driving lessons after he has paid for the new car that he now owes you..

Really.. break up because of that? accidents happen, it could happen to you any time as wel. He owes her a new car? You obviously didn't read the part of "our" car, meaning he owns the car just as much as she does..

It sounds like you have a joint household since you referred to it as "our" car, but you also don't seem to be mentioning your boyfriend's job or him pitching in to help pay for a new car. That might not be the best combination of things...
