Today, my boyfriend decided that he needed some time alone for a few weeks. This break just so happens to include our one year anniversary, Christmas, New Year's, and my birthday. Now I get to spend the next three weeks alone. FML

Today, my boyfriend told me he wants to break up. But not until after our anniversary tomorrow, because he's already gotten dinner reservations for us. FML
Today, after having recently moved 300 miles to be with my boyfriend of 2 years, I have to celebrate Christmas alone. He never thought our relationship important enough to tell his family about me, and doesn't want it to be "awkward." FML
Today, I went to spend some time with my family. Unbeknownst to me, while I was having quality time with my family, my boyfriend of a year and a half was packing up his belongings and going back to his estranged wife. FML
Today, my girlfriend of almost 3 years told me we needed a break, and that we could try again at the end of the year. FML
Today, I pointed out to my boyfriend how Valentine's day, my birthday, and our one-year anniversary were all coming up in the next few weeks. He then promptly broke up with me. FML
Today, for my birthday, I got a hotel room for me and my boyfriend. He decided that spending time with a female friend was more important than spending time with me. FML
Today, I celebrated my birthday. By that, I mean I spent most of the day alone in a field, waiting for my boyfriend to have time for me, then we broke up, and I ended up spending the evening crying alone on a beach. FML
Today, my fiancé broke it off with me on our 3-year anniversary at 12:01 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning. Guess who gets to go to family gatherings where everyone will be asking where he is. FML
Today, I got a phone call from my boyfriend breaking things off with me. He waited until the day after Christmas because he wanted all his presents. And he got me nothing. FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me for asking to spend time with him after not seeing him very much in three months, because he doesn’t have time for me and is so stressed out he doesn’t have time for fun. Then he decided he should go to Mexico with the people he works and lives with so they could have fun together. FML

It sounds to me like he is wanting to break up, but wants you to do it for him so that he doesn't feel like the bad guy. Sure, we all need a break from our SO now and again, but the timing of this is really, really off.

Hey, be glad you aren't me. My first boyfriend of 1 year broke up with me 2 weeks ago. I'm eighteen and now have to spend every dinner party and get together explaining that my boyfriend left me because he lost interest in the relationship. F my Christmas.

I feel for you, OP, but you have to be strong enough to move on. This guy obviously doesn't care for you as much as you care for him if he's doing this to you. Stop calling him your boyfriend, start calling him your ex, and move on, one day at a time. You'll find a guy out there that is deserving of you, and your company throughout ALL the holidays.

Every time I say I want a break, I really want to break up and just don't know how to say it.. I don't think he intends on coming back to you, and I don't think he did it because he's a "cheapscape"

This is what the FBI calls "a clue." He is either seeing someone else and spending the holiday with them, OR he wants to break-up. The holidays are a time when guys will think about the relationship they are in, because the pressure is on at the holidays. When you first got together it was probably too new of a relationship at Christmastime for spending it together with one or both of your families. A year later, a girl is going to expect to be taken home for Christmas, or to be able to bring him with her to her family. He doesn't want that, and this is his way of telling you so. I hope you manage to have a nice Christmas and New Year's in spite of this.
