Today, my boyfriend broke up with me and left me crying in the street. I then got a text from my mom saying how pathetic my love life was. Apparently, it was a mass text message and she accidentally added me to the list. FML

Today, my boyfriend broke up with me two days before my birthday. Only to make it worse, I found out that he had been texting my mother on how to break up with me. To make it even worse, she was giving him tips. FML
Today, I was trying to break up with my boyfriend over text. I was being really careful to phrase it nicely, and I hit send with a sigh of relief. Except I sent the text to my mom, who now keeps sending me unsolicited advice about my "love life" with an occasional "You go, girl!" FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me. How? He invited my mother to his house for coffee with his parents, and told her. She then had to come home and tell me I’d been dumped. FML
Today, I was texting my mother after my boyfriend broke off our relationship. She offered incredibly supportive replies such as "No, really?" and "Aww, that sucks." before apparently getting bored and claiming she had to go because her "text reception" was breaking up. FML
Today, my girlfriend broke up with me and threw all my stuff out into the yard because she caught me "texting another woman". Guess it didn't matter to her that the contact name was "Mom". FML
Today, I got a phone call from my mother asking me if I was okay. Confused, I asked her what she meant. She then told me that my boyfriend had broken up with me, and she just wanted to make sure I was handling it alright. I had to find out my relationship was over from my mom. FML

Today, my boyfriend dumped me. I tried to hide my sadness from my mom. She still noticed, and tried to cheer me up. She took me to a funeral. FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me in my front yard. As I stormed off in my dramatic exit, I realized I had locked myself outside. I had to ask my now ex-boyfriend to borrow his phone so I could call my mom. FML

I really am puzzled at why parents are so inquisitive and vocal about the relationships their children are in. Is it them trying to live vicariously through their children or are they simply too nosey? There is no excuse for this kind of behaviour and your mom needs to be told as much. She isn't 14 and gossiping with her friends, she's an adult and a mother. Tell her to grow up...

Aww, I'm sorry! Breakups are no fun. And you need your support network to get through it! I would check your mom off the checklist of people-to-lean-on. We all have people we know we can't trust with stuff like that. And make sure you pick trustworthy people. You deserve it! I hope you feel better!

This thread makes my head hurt. Only because I know where you are coming from when you speak of the break up part. Yesterday upon all days was horrible for me. Anyways jus take things one day at a time and do something that makes you happy. Perhaps clubbing, or partying or hell mingle. Go out and have fun. Ignore what your mom said, you have to be the bigger person here. Not her
