Today, my boyfriend asked my father for permission to marry me. My father refused, on the basis that I'm the only person in the house with a job, and if I leave he will have to start looking for work. My boyfriend won't marry me without his permission, and my lazy father won't change his mind. FML

Today, I asked my girlfriend's dad for permission to take her hand in marriage. He said no, because he doesn't want her marrying a "sexist idiot who treats her like property", which he thinks asking permission amounts to, then told me to grow up. FML
Today, my boyfriend went to ask my dad for my hand in marriage. All I could make out from the door was mumbling, until profanities started flying. My boyfriend shouted "well she's a SINGLE bitch now!" and stormed out of the house. My dad still refuses to tell me what happened in there. FML
Today, I asked for permission to marry the girl I love. Her father not only said no, he said "HELL no!" FML
Today, my dad is refusing to let me marry my fiancé because he said no when my dad asked for a loan of £10,000 to help clear some gambling debts. Apparently that shows my fiancé has poor family values and will be a bad father and an alcoholic husband. Impressive logical thinking there. FML
Today, I asked my girlfriend's father if I could marry his daughter. He smiled, shook my hand, and said "No. Now get out of my house." FML
Today, my boyfriend told me he likes to do things the old-fashioned way, and that he wouldn't propose to me without my father's blessing. My dad died 3 years ago, and he knows it. FML
Today, my aunt informed me that my dad thinks my boyfriend is a loser deadbeat because he hasn't proposed to me after two years of dating and co-habitation. He hasn't asked because I already made it very clear I have no interest in marriage. FML
Today, I happily told my parents that my boyfriend proposed to me last night. My dad's response? "Marry that goofy bastard and you're out of the will." FML
Today, my boyfriend bought me a ring for my birthday. My dad now refuses to talk to me, because he thinks I'm engaged. My boyfriend thinks it's funny, because he'd never marry me. FML
Today, my boyfriend asked me to marry him. When I happily told my dad, he kept asking if I'd consider taking back my ex. FML

That's really selfish of him. He should want to see you happy, he shouldn't be depending on your money all of the time. I mean, he's your dad and he's done a lot for you so I don't blame him for depending on your money but the fact that he won't let you get married because he wants you to continue working to give him the money is just ridiculous.. He should try to find a job though because one day, you're going to eventually get married, you won't be around forever.

Story of my life right here. My mother has decided that while I have every intention of moving out when I get my disability I should share the money at home. That we need to help each other out just like when my brother got money and I got 60 and I should've been grateful for that. I get 200 a month which I have to use to pay my own phone bill and that's to take care of three people. If I get extra then it comes out of the next months money and I have two very lazy parents who apparently think I should stay home to pay rent and still take care of them. My brother who doesn't do anything for himself pays nothing and doesn't help with them has his own room. I will do some help but I'm not giving up all my money for them I'm going to use it to move out of here and set up my own place.
