Today, it's Xmas Eve, and my partner's quick afternoon catch-up with his friends has turned into 5 messy drunks in our house at 1am. So it's no to the "us" time evening we had planned before spending tomorrow with our families who live over 3 hours away. Guess who had promised to drive and now can't? FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Who's in charge?
Today, a couple of days after my boyfriend came on a night out with my friends but made us leave early as he had an early work shift, he's now spent the last two nights out with his friends, late, and all my friends are busy and a bit peeved at us taking off early the other night. FML
Today, my friends and I had our Christmas party. I ended up being the only one sober, and had to drive each and every person home. There were 15 of us. FML
Don't mess with family
Today, it's 49 days until Christmas, and all I can think of is how it’s mine and my partner's first Christmas together but she’ll be out of town. Apparently, she’d rather hang out with her whackjob family rather than my normal, stable family. FML
Happy New 2024
Today, it's New Year's Eve. I'd made plans to spend time with my fiancé's family the past week, then my fiancé and I were supposed to drive to my parents place today to celebrate NYE. Unfortunately, this week has been full of sickness. I spent all yesterday bedridden, and now my fiancé is too sick to get out of bed. FML
Today, we were looking forward to spending Xmas Eve with our best friends of 13 years before moving across the country where we know no one. That was the plan. The stomach flu virus had a different plan. FML
Explain yourself
Today, I received a text message from my wife, who had gone out for the evening with some girlfriends, saying, "I have to take a friend home, she's drunk! I'll be staying at his place. Call you in the morning." Umm… His? FML
Today, I went to a New Year's party with my boyfriend. Later into the night, he got drunk, and left me there to go to another party with his friends. I have no car, and no way to get home. FML
Today, after my work's Christmas party, everyone got so drunk that I had to help one of my only sober co-workers take everyone home and clean up vomit. FML
Unreliable
Today, my boyfriend begged me to spend an extra night at his house. I agreed, cancelled my Uber, and arranged for my pets to be cared for, since I wasn't coming home. Five minutes later, he decided that he had to work tonight instead. Then he got angry at me for leaving. FML
I just wanna go home
Today, I tried to leave a rowdy Christmas party early. The apartment door creaked loudly, someone asked where I was going, and suddenly I was explaining my schedule to 10 drunk people. I stayed another hour to avoid more drunk people telling me to, "COME ON, STAY, HAVE A DRINK." FML

catch a ride to your family's and forget the rest. His behavior is indicative of possible addiction. That's a mess you don't want to have to contend with the next 45 years.

I'm making an educated guess at what this horribly formatted FML is saying. OP lives in Australia and it had reached the wee hours of the morning on Christmas Day. OP's boyfriend/fiancé/husband meant to only have a quick get together with some old friends but that turned into a mess. Said partner is still intoxicated and still up at 'em with his friends. Mister messed up their Christmas Eve plans and is unable to drive to parents' houses later on based on how intoxicated he still is and the three hour drive. That is what I'm inferring but I could be off the mark but the post makes my brain hurt.

He's getting into the Christmas spirit. And the Christmas beer.

Agreeing with #6. A person with substance abuse problems will ruin every holiday, birthday, etc. whether it's the pressure or needing to be the center of attention, dysfunction will rear its ugly head at these times.

Why not stop him before he gets drunk?

Something tells me OP wasn't expecting a "quick afternoon catch up" to really mean "getting shitfaced".

I agree that sucks for you but, at least they're having a good time and sounds like your partner has some good friends. Maybe just let that one go and be thankful that everyone's happy?

OP isn't happy. And good friends would not impose into family time. None of them cared about ruining their plans and neither did the husband. Why should OP be selfless and just be happy her husband and friends are happy when they are being selfish and ruining Christmas eve for her?

I so rarely get to spend time with my mates that when I do we tend to stay around longer than planned and end up getting way drunker than we intended. Spending time with family is nice for most men, spending time with our mates is something much better. Bit annoying it has happened but surely you can't be angry at him for enjoying his limited time with his friends?

If you make plans with anyone, other half included, then have to skip because you're shit faced, and then keep them awake til early hours of the morning with your noise then you're being a dick. If the time is limited he shouldn't have organised to do other things. he's also being selfish because they're seeing family the next day and he's now affecting that too. So it's not his spending time with friends that's shit, it's how he's gone about it

I have to go with Mr Dickpencle on this one. That code is number 1 one that list after all.
