Today, it's my birthday. Today is also the day my grandma died, six years ago. Since then, I get to sit through any sort of attempted celebration while my mom sobs and drinks herself into a stupor in the background. FML

Today, it's my birthday. My grandmother died yesterday. We were close and she basically raised me. FML

Today, without telling me, my mom dropped me off at my grandmother's house, and drove off. Now I'm supposed to spend the next month with her. Guess she forgot my grandma died six weeks ago. FML
Today, it's officially been a year since my grandma passed away. I still have the occasional dream where I go to her house and she's right there, waiting for me, after which I wake up sobbing because it will never happen again. I don't wanna be an adult anymore. FML
Today, my mom wished her best friend a Happy Birthday on Facebook. Her best friend died this year. Oh, did I mention that it’s also my birthday? FML
Today, my family is still telling me to "get over" the death of my great aunt. The great aunt who always gave the most wonderful birthday gifts, and was overall one of the most pleasant people I've ever met, and I'm NOT allowed to be sad that she's gone. Did I mention she died on my birthday? FML
Today, it's a day before my birthday and I will be turning 14. My grandma died 5 days ago and in Indian culture you aren’t supposed to celebrate for 16 days after a loved one dies. I have dietary restrictions too and can’t eat eggs because of her death, which means I basically can’t have any sweets. FML

Happy Birthday OP. Obviously you're mother isn't coping well with the loss of her mother. That's unfortunate OP, but it can take some people a lot long than others to come to terms with loss. Maybe she had unresolved issues with your grandmother, or something like that.

wow, can't she just let go of her mom and your grandma? if it makes you feel any better my adoptive parents put me in a syc-ward because I was carrying gas to the lawn mower, although they didn't see the mower, they thought i was gonna burn down the house, so I spent my 14th birthday in the ER, and happy birthday to you! and may your next one be a lot more memorable
