Today, it's been six months since my husband and I have miscarried our daughter who we named Hana Grace. My sister just revealed she is having a girl and naming her Hana Grace since "the name is up for grabs now". FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, a week after my miscarriage, my little sister thought it appropriate to wrap her belt around her neck and scream, "Hey look, it's your baby!" FML
Spoke too soon
Today, we're right now at the hospital because my sister had a miscarriage. Last night I announced on Instagram that I was going to be aunt. FML
Unreliable narrator?
Today, my wife's sister called with a confession. My wife never wanted children, but I did, but I thought she'd miscarried the first two, so we stopped trying. Her sister confessed that she'd actually aborted them and lied to me. We picked out names for them and she aborted them. FML
Today, my sister announced her pregnancy at my husband's funeral. FML
Asshole move
Today, my sister decided to have her baby shower on my birthday. I recently had a miscarriage and she knows this. FML
Copycat
Today, my father-in-law announced the name of his new son, my husband's half-brother. The first name and last name is the same as our son, who I gave birth to 4 months ago. FML
Sorry not sorry
Today, I miscarried my baby. My teen sister, who has autism and can’t handle being around children, congratulated me on getting my freedom back, and also on miscarrying before I got fat like our mom. I can’t even yell at her because she wouldn’t understand why I’m upset. FML
New creepypasta dropped
Today, after I had a miscarriage in December, and finding out in June that I was 13 weeks pregnant with twins, I was told out that Baby B had consumed Baby A. FML
How could you?
Today, I found out my ex-fiance and the girl he cheated on me with are expecting. It’s bad enough he jilted me at the altar four months ago, but the fact that they’re naming their son the same name I wanted to name my miscarried son pours lemon juice in the wound. FML
Pre-partum depression
Today, it’s been four and a half months that my wife is pregnant. It’s been a long and hard process, but we made it. Now she says she hates it, she can’t stop thinking about how her life, body, and identity got ruined, and how she wishes she was dead. I'm a simple man. I was happy. FML

As long as you hold no ill will against the poor girl just because her mother is a ****.

Geez. I understand naming the child after the miscarried one as a type of gift, but naming the kid just because the "name is up for grabs" is kinda awful

That is so insensitive

Too bad she couldn't gift her daughter the name as tribute to your daughter. That would have been sweet. When your niece grew up, she'd be able to tell her she was named after her cousin that was still loved til that day. Maybe it's just me but that would be my reasoning behind this situation. I'm very sorry for your loss. No one deserves this. Hopefully you have a supportive group of loved ones to help you through it. It's never okay but you'll smile again.

Is she doing this to piss you off or something? She's a horrible person for doing this.

My fingereat and I have been trying to conceive for about a year. We experienceshould anot early miscarriage last January and my nephew was born in June. Being an aunt is awesome but I still get reminded of our loss. I'm saying all this to let you know you aren't alone and I know the heartache you ate going through. But for your sister to behave this way is unfathomable and unacceptable. I'm so sorry OP.

this is horrible.. maybe if she would say it's in your daughters honor I could understand... but "it's up for grabs" no its not. it's taken!

This is why we didn't tell people our name choices before she was born. We didn't want anyone stealing it, not did we want people's criticism if they didn't care for it. Your sister is extremely inconsiderate and I hope that if you express your feelings to her she sees how inconsiderate it is. Maybe ask her to choose a different first name and then use your daughters name as a middle name if she is insistent.

I agree with everything but the first part. The baby was born, this isn't possible names..

The birth rate used to be so low they didn't even name babies til they got married and had their own kid

I've been witness to inconsiderate name stealing before, but this is the most atrocious situation I've heard of. Your family needs to intervene. What has the father of your sister's baby said about it?
