Today, it's been six months since my husband and I have miscarried our daughter who we named Hana Grace. My sister just revealed she is having a girl and naming her Hana Grace since "the name is up for grabs now". FML

As long as you hold no ill will against the poor girl just because her mother is a ****.

I'm sorry for your loss. Talk to your sister about it and maybe get family members involved to talk to her.

Don't do anything to the child for she has no choice in the matter. However, beat the living shit out of your sister for being a complete bitch.

wtf! not okay, I'd punch her in the throat.

You your husband and if you can get your family need to freeze out your sister until she realizes that what she did was insensitive and I'm sorry for your loss op I'm sure your daughter have been brilliant

I suggest you call your niece "The Second". When she asks why, tell her that her mommy will explain it to her.

No sorry, I can't agree with this. It is not the child's fault her mom's a bitch...

That's horrible...If I where you I would talk to your sister like others said and if that doesn't work (I know this would hurtbut) take her to your daughter's grave/ memorial. To show her it's not "up for grabs".

My cousin did that to me. I had twin girls but she stole my boy's name if I were to have a boy... I learned my lesson... Don't share potential names with other pregnant girls.

I think your situation is slightly different

Hugely different situation. Not even comparable.

My mom had a name picked out for my brother, and her cousin got pregnant afterwards. My mom told, the planned name. Their baby was born very premature, but he was fine and they gave him my brothers planned name. My mom had 2 weeks to choose a new name before my brother was born.

You have my utmost sympathies OP. I'd never forgive anyone who knowingly named their child the same as the daughter I lost, let alone excused it in such crass terms. My heart goes out to you. I hope you're able to successfully explain to your sister why this is hurtful. Best of luck.

Well go out and buy a dog and name it that first. You can be like "We named her after the daughter we lost." and then your sister will feel weird naming her daughter a name that a dog in the family already has.

That is just beyond terrible and sounds like something my sister would do. I'm sorry that you have such an ass for a sister, OP.
