Today, in my architecture class, my professor's lecture consisted of a list of movies and books which feature characters who are architects. I couldn't leave because I needed the attendance points, and it lasted 45 minutes. I paid out of state tuition for this. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my professor spent the entire class showing us how to make paper airplanes. I pay over 40 grand a year for college. FML
Today, I drove to my college campus for my 8 a.m. class, parked, walked the mile and a half to my classroom, just to find out class had been cancelled. The prof didn't send an email because she couldn't remember her password. I paid $1200 to be taught by this woman, who has a doctorate. FML
Lost and found
Today, I had to go meet my professor at 12. I wound up showing up almost an hour late. Why? Because she doesn't teach at the campus I registered at. I wound up having to visit TWO different campuses before I reached the right one. FML
Today, my professor let a guy into my philosophy class 30 minutes late because his excuse was, "Time is just an illusion." This is the same professor that kicked me out of the classroom for being 2 minutes late. FML
Higher education
Today, after attending lectures for months, studying for weeks, and spending hours writing a 15-page research paper, I was informed that due to technological issues during registration, I was not enrolled in the class. FML
Driven
Today, I drove 3 hours to get to a class, just to have the professor leave a note on the classroom door saying that she wasn't coming. FML
Today, I found out that I have to take a weekly workshop outside of class time all semester, and it's only offered on the day I have the most work hours. I barely make ends meet as it is, but the professor said to figure it out or fail. FML
Today, we watched a movie in class. Afterwards, the professor asked us what we thought. I raised my hand and said it was pretentious, dull and a really poor example of filmmaking. It was the movie HE spent five years writing and directing. FML
Today, I finally found out why I got a D in a class last semester. It was a heavily attendance-based class, and apparently he only marked you present if you participated in class discussion. It was a 100-seat lecture. FML
Teacher's pet
Today, I decided to show up to my new class an hour early, to be able to choose my seat, and figure out how the computer lab works… only to find out that the lab was locked and I had to wait until the professor unlocked it. FML

Inception really challenges the mind, so you're probably getting your money's worth after all.

Does "The Architect" in The Matrix count? He built a whole world.

I am in love with that movie.

Exactly. You're paying for it, so you might as well form a comfy ass groove and get your money's worth. You did chose to take that course after all, even if it's required for your major. There are going to be classes you deem useless and boring to your degree. I had to take calculus for my forestry BS just so that, if I even needed to find the circumference of a tree

My stupid brain tumor made my thumb hit "Validate" before I was done! Damn you depth perception! Sorry :-( As I WAS saying: There are going to be classes you deem useless and boring to your degree. I had to take calculus for my forestry BS just so that if I ever needed to find the circumference of a tree, I could do so by using calculus; we have a special measuring tape called a DBH that does that for us. It sucked.

I would think calculus to be very important to almost any BS. Rates of change surely apply to forestry. If you are talking about geometry, that is important too if you want to determine the area of a forest.

Oh, it totally makes sense NOW why I had to take it, but back then I was like, "Wtf? Calculus?". There are special equations we use to figure out the geometry of forests.

What about Matt Dillon's character in "There's something about Mary"? He pretended to be an architect.

Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel for lesson ideas.

I had an architecture prof give the same lecture, the next days was comparing architectural styles in the movies, then two days on the structural principles behind the styles. It may not be as pointless as OP thinks.

I think you should try and report him somehow. I don't go to university, so I don't know who you'd have to go to. Just try and get your money back, or at least tell someone that he is wasting your time.
license2chill 5
Unless the prof does this frequently, or the course material is nowhere near the course description and outline, then report him. Otherwise you are just going too far with it. To be honest, I don't know what OP is complaining, just do your own stuff while you are stuck in a boring class.

If he has tenure their is nothing you can do about. Legally, professors can teach whatever they want in class, telling them otherwise would interfere with academic integrity.
picante72 24
You need to burn your bridge with that professor.

You better have some mad doodle skills. 'Cause that will totally make up for it.

Get over it O.P

This is one of the more tolerable FML's out there. On a daily basis most people have it worse than this, hands-down.

Very true, I'd rather pay to watch Jurassic Park every day than accidently grab a poop!

Jurassic Park? Accidentally grab a poop? Where'd these come from?

Accidentally grabbing a green log of turd - reference to another FML.

Characters from movies and books and movies who are architects? How could he forget television? Where would we be today without Mike Brady, architect, from the Brady Bunch tv show?!
starw0lf 31
Argh! I wrote movies twice! It's too early in the morning. I'm sorry for the mistake.

Not to forget Ted Mosby. And Jim whatever his last name is in According to Jim. I think that's pretty much it.

And George of Seinfeld , he always wanted to pretend to be an architect .

And let us not forget Bob the Builder, who inspired us all to become the best of the best. Who kept us with constant support and reassurance. Who told us when when we were asked if we could build it to hold out head up high and say "Yes, we can!"
