Today, I went to Waffle House to talk to the manager about getting a job. My boyfriend now wants to beat up the manager for giving me his number so that I can call him whenever I'm done filling in the application. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my boyfriend and I went to a restaurant so I could apply for a job, and we decided to eat there. After we finished, I went to start the car. When we got home, I asked him how much the bill came to. Apparently he didn't pay. I had already given them my completed application. FML
Nice try old man
Today, I submitted my application to a restaurant as a server. The manager, who is more than 30 years older than me, said he'd be calling me. He later texted me asking for a date instead of giving me a job. FML
Today, I took my girlfriend out to eat at a diner where my friend works. My friend was our waiter but too busy to talk much. He texted me after we'd left to tell me that my girlfriend had slipped him her number. FML
Today, my obsessive ex, who recently cut my phone line to stop me from talking to my boyfriend of three years, got a job at the same restaurant where both my boyfriend and I work. FML
Today, I went to a restaurant with my boyfriend. When it came time for us to leave, I saw him write something on the receipt for our waitress. I managed to get a quick look; it was his number. FML
Today, I got a phone call from a number I didn't recognize. It was a man with a speech impediment, and I began imitating him. He was the manager of a store I applied at. He wanted to arrange an interview. FML
Snarky
Today, we are severely understaffed, and I'm very often the only person working my shift. There's a yuppie who comes in and complains when we have to pause service due to shift change. He does this every day, and I'd had enough, so I slid him an application ,and told him to fill it out, wait, or leave. I got written up. FML
Today, while working as a waitress, an attractive woman sat at one of my tables. When she paid, I decided to be bold and write my number and "Call me" on her receipt. She put in a complaint to my manager. FML
Get out
Today, I went for a job interview. I'd resigned at my current job and applied for somewhere closer to home. They hired me on the spot, and as I was leaving, I saw my abusive ex-boyfriend working in the store. So… now I'm working alongside my ex who abused me for two years. Time to apply elsewhere. FML
Today, I went to my boyfriend's house to meet his parents. They informed me they were lawyers throughout the meal, which explained the gorgeous house. My boyfriend excitedly told them I was promoted manager at my job. They asked where I work. I work at Burger King. FML

Any man that chooses violence as the answer needs to be replaced.

Maybe your boyfriend is more of a pancake guy.

Wow. Your life is so terrible. I feel really bad for you.

How long should it take to fill out an app for Waffle House? Did they ask questions you didn't know the answer to?

Obviously you have never been to one of those places when they are slamming busy. Doesn't seem odd at all to be sent away with the application & asked to call later.

Your boyfriend jealous much.

Lose the "Old Man" not the phone number. He's a boy, but he ain't your friend. This guy will try to isolate you from friends, family and anything he does not control. You'll end up giving up contacts to keep the peace. It just gets worse. I'm speaking from experience. Does he open your mail yet?

Have you predicted when the world ends yet? Your very gloom and doom

#33 sounds like she knows this sad, predictable pattern. Too many women I know have been with controlling guys like this.

You have a ridiculous way of thinking. Perhaps she has a history with guys or of being manipulated. Jealousy and being protective to save her from her old self and associates who made her into a ***** for their own measures is good.

Why would you need to call the manager once you're done with the application? Plus, it's a business. You could always call back and ask to speak to the manager, unless he gave you his personal number for some reason. There are some details lacking here. I can't go either way based on this.

I agree. It's not like its Waffle House corporate and he's the CEO. Why would you need his number when you can just call whatever Waffle House you applied to?

Overprotective much? :D

Seriously, call his personal number when you're finished with the application? How many male applicants do you think got his phone number? He totally wants to sleep with you.

No one said personal number. The manager probably gave her a work cell #.

I doubt a waffle house pays for a work cell. Even for its managers. Nice try though.

I've applied to numerous amount of jobs, this never happens. You either sit there and fill it out or bring it back when your done. Something is off about that and your boyfriend is right to feel on edge

I agree, its 50/50. I've never heard of calling back a manager to hand in a application. But at same time, your boyfriend needs to back off a bit. Your a big girl who can handle making her own decisions and mistakes. Dont let him stop you from applying.

I don't know how it usually works in the US, but over here, specially in small stores (even if they're part of a large company), it's very common to deal directly with the manager when applying for a job, and it wouldn't be strange if they ask you to call them, or if they called you instead. And when she says "his number" doesn't necessarily means his personal number, but probably the number of his office.

Having worked a few restaurants when I was younger, I can fill in a few of the things she didn't mention or may not have known, so didn't include. If she came to fill out the application close to one of their rush times, she would have been sent away with it. If she made a good impression on the manager, she would get asked to call so the manager could make sure he actually got her app, and it didn't get lost in the shuffle of all the other applications & chunked in the trash or shredder like many do. Restaurants get tons of applications so unless they're desperate for help or you stand out somehow, half of them get tossed without even being looked at

But this FML took place in the U.S. so yeah

And what exactly are you basing that off of? Careful not to offend the gamer community. That could turn out badly for you.

This is most likely an accurate description of him haha
