Today, I went to the doctor to talk about my depression and low self-esteem. He told me that I shouldn't think of myself as a fat pig for being overweight. I don't think that and I'm NOT overweight. FML

Today, I went in for a doctor's appointment. When I got on the scale, I was really excited to see that I'd lost ten pounds since the last time I weighed myself at the gym. The doctor then severely lectured me on the fact that I had gained twenty since my visit last year. FML
Today, a therapist told me that I was too depressed to attend his depression group meetings. FML

What kind of doctor was this? Either you need to get a new psychologist, or why the hell did you go to an MD to discuss your depression and low self-esteem? And if it was in fact an MD, then I'd say he can tell you better than anyone whether or not your overweight.

Doctors suck. Take up exercise (because it helps with depression, not for weight) and talk to someone capable of helping.

I agree. Doctors are professionals trained in the field of health. You are not a doctor. Thus, your doctor's opinion that you are overweight is likely to be more right than your feelings (unless you weight train a lot). If you want to be sure, visit another doctor. Go exercise instead of wallowing in your own self-pity.

Actually, OP said that she saw the doctor for her depression, and calling her a fat pig does not help with that, so she's not wallowing in her self-pity. She's just upset that she paid to get someone to help with her depression and ended up feeling worse than before.

Yeah OP, you know better than the DOCTOR about what is and isn't overweight. your opinion probably counts for more than six years of medical school.
