Today, I was really excited to get a new bank account in my name. My parents wanted me to have it so they could transfer money from mine to theirs and vice versa. What excited me less was my father drunkenly accessing it and taking all my cash. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Mixed feeling
Today, my boss told me that I was getting a promotion. I was so excited to tell my family and friends the good news, but when I got home and checked my bank account, I realized that I had accidentally transferred all of my savings to my ex's account. FML
Thanks for nothing
Today, I was surprised to see a little extra cash in my account for no reason. Confused, (and a little concerned about fraud) I called customer service. Turns out my dad had accidentally used the wrong routing number and put the money in the wrong account. So much for that extra $35. FML
Today, I found out why I haven't been getting my bank statements for the past couple of months. My parents have been hiding them from me, because they've been stealing from it. FML
Addict
Today, my mother asked me if she could borrow $200. Being the lovely daughter I am, I gave her my bank card to withdraw it herself. She gambled it away and maxed my bank account out. I had $1500 saved. FML
The tautology police
Today, as part of my becoming an adult, my dad taught me how to use an ATM. The irrational anger I suddenly felt when he told me to "Enter your PIN number into the ATM machine" is too much to be described here. FML
Heist
Today, my father stole the money I'd saved up by working and spent it all gambling. I'd saved it up for a year for a new car. FML
Nice meeting you…
Today, I met my biological father for the first time. He seemed to be slightly intoxicated from the outset, and less than half an hour later, he had tried to intimidate me into "loaning" him several hundred euros for reasons he wouldn't tell me. So long, "dad". FML
Money money money
Today, my fiancé and I got a joint account recently, but when I got home he was on the phone to the bank claiming our credit card number was cloned, because of the ridiculous number of random purchases. I checked my online banking. It was all just my normal buying habits. FML
Today, my mom cleaned out my bank account, saying my "no-good dad" owes her child support and that she'll get it one way or another. FML
Boozehound
Today, I found out my credit card was maxed out to the penny, all thanks to purchases made on an online wine store. Apparently my mother was thirsty enough to steal from her own son. FML

This is why no one but me ever has access to my bank account.

When you get your bank statement, show it to your parents so they know how much they owe you. At least yours didn't use all of your money to bail himself out of prison.. and the reason he was there in the first place was because he was abusing you..

Why not just use Google Wallet? It's free and super-easy. That's how I send and receive money.

Why would you have your account set to those settings though? It's kind of asking for trouble.. In my opinion.

Take your fathers name off of the account. No one can access your account unless they are on the account with you.

No way. Bank account for a child is ONEWAY from the Parents to the child only.

Not true. I work in a bank, and parents withdraw funds from their child's account all the time. As long as the parent is a signer, they are allowed to access the money.

Sorry OP. If your father is a custodian or a joint on the account, he legally has a right to the money in the account. It sucks. As soon as you possibly can, open an account in your name and your name only. However, if your father isn't a signer on the account, you are allowed to dispute it to get your money back. Good luck! Hopefully your father pays you back.
