Today, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. My mom's reaction was, I shit you not, to tell me to "walk it off". FML
Today, my dad went to the doctor to find out if he is autistic. When we walked in, the doctor asked why he wasn't testing if he was diabetic, effectively calling my dad fat. My dad was deeply offended, so I gave that jackass doctor an earful. But as it turns out, he was correct. My dad does have diabetes. FML
Today, while having lunch with my grandparents, my grandpa's eyes glazed over, his head fell and he slumped in his chair. I started panicking and almost cried, thinking he was dead. Then he laughed and said "Just kidding. I'm fine." FML
Today, after finding out that my mom is diabetic last year in November, this July a good friend of mine died from diabetes. I also found out that my dad is diabetic, as well as my grandma. It would appear that Wilford Brimley hates my guts. FML
Today, since I needed someone to talk to about it, I told my girlfriend how my dad was recently diagnosed with diabetes. My girlfriend's mother then told me, in graphic detail, how her father's diabetes led to his toes being hacked off. FML
Today, after struggling with an eating disorder and hiding my symptoms for months, I got up the courage to tell my mom that I need help. Then she asked if an ice cream would make me feel better. FML
Today, I told my boyfriend I had diabetes. He won't talk to me anymore because he thinks I'll infect him with it. FML
Today, my granddaddy called me with the sole purpose of letting me know that I’ve gotten so fat, he doesn’t even recognize me anymore. I’ve been silently suffering with a health condition that causes major weight gain. FML
Today, like every other month, I accompanied my paternal grandfather to visit his doctor who's as old as he is, and whom I never spoke to ever. As I waited outside, for the first time ever, grandpa had me come in to meet his doctor. The very moment I stepped into his office, he greeted me with a, "He's obese!" FML
Today, we surprised my grandpa by being at his house when he arrived. We haven't seen him in seven years. He had a small heart attack. It was his birthday. FML

Probably just slipped out out of habit. When one of my friends is down we always suggest going out to get ice cream. Either that or he doesn't really understand what diabetes is.

I've had diabetes since i was 2 years old, im now 16, my diet? Chocolate, crisps, and lots of unhealthy food, im still doing fine, a little bit of sugar won't kill you, i honestly eat about 6 bars of chocolate a day minimum, i know its probs not the BEST thing i shud eat but it don't mean i can't, and before anyone assumes, i am very skinny considering my diet.

im a diabetic too, and have been for 8 years, and i eat sweets and im not on the pump. you just have too talk too your doctor about what plan will work best for you, its hard at first but in the end your just as normal as everyone else :) xo -clutz989

I've been diabetic for five years. It sucks. Can any of you show any sympathy? It's really hard the first day, when you're scared and confused. And you can eat anything you want, once you've got your blood sugars under a little more control. And BTW DIABETICS CAN EAT WHAT EVER FOOD THAT THEY ******* WANT TO. GOD. Just because we don't make insulin doesn't mean that we can't eat the same food everyone else does. My favorite food is chocolate. I eat it everyday, and cuz i've got the pump i can eat WHENEVER AND WHATEVER. and the sugar-free stuff often has more carbs than not sugar free. And it tastes like SHIT. So unless you know what diabetics go through, shut up. you sound like an idiot. You have no idea the stress and shit we have to deal with. So just shut up. They're obviously going through a hard time, and you shouldn't make them feel worse you unsypmathtic jerks.

I just ate a huge bowl of ice cream and im ******* diabetic! It doesnt matter! You can eat WHATEVER YOU WANT if you have diabetis, you just have to TAKE THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF INSULIN.!! i dont see why every one thinks diabetics cant eat sweets. Ignorant people.
