Today, I was at the gym. I'm 360 lbs and have finally decided it's time to change that. Some girl and her two bitch friends thought it'd be fun to follow me and belittle me at everything I did. When I mentioned it to the staff, they said that they were just "encouraging" me. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was at the gym, when a pretty overweight guy started staring and eventually taunting me. Let me tell you, lines such as "Lay off the cake, fatty!" and "I can see your gut hanging out your ass, for fuck's sake!" don't exactly boost one's self-confidence. FML
Know your place
Today, I went to the new gym I recently signed up for and started exercising in the men-filled weights room, despite being intimidated by them and the strange looks they were giving me. Workout over, I left the room and saw in front of me a door marked, "Women's weights room." Oh. FML
Today, I felt like going to the gym. I asked my girlfriend if she wanted to come with me. She screamed at me for supposedly implying that she's fat. No, I just wanted to go to the gym with someone. FML
Nice guys
Today, I was at the gym running with intensity on the treadmill. As I was working out, I noticed a few guys behind me staring at me. I figured they were checking me out because I was losing some weight and looking better. Turns out they were betting on how much longer "Fat Ass" could last. FML
Today, I went with my girlfriend to the gym for the first time. I knew I was in bad shape, but I bet her that I could lift more than her. Not only did I get my ass handed to me by a 5', 115lbs girl in front of the entire gym, I also have to attend Zumba in bright pink spandex. FML
Strength test
Today, I went to the gym. I tried out a new machine where you do one-arm weightlifting. I took my time to get into a good position, then set the machine to the lowest weight possible. I couldn't even lift it an inch. A bunch of buff guys nearby saw me and burst out laughing. FML
Today, I was working out at the gym. A very attractive girl was watching me work out, so feeling like a stud, I tried to lift a really heavy weight. I failed, got trapped, and watched helplessly as she walked away laughing. FML
Distraction
Today, I was in the gym when I noticed three trainers who worked there staring at me. Thinking that they were checking me out, i turned the speed on the treadmill higher. Finally one of the trainers came over, and asked me to leave until I got a sports bra that actually worked. FML
Today, I was at the gym with my friends when they invited me to do a few bench presses. Since I'd never done any before, I decided to start with no weights on the bar and work my way up from there. I wound up pinned beneath the bar, calling for my friend to come free me. FML
What's wrong with me?
Today, I went to the gym. This really fat and gross guy got on the machine next to men and I figured he'd hit on me but he didn't even look at me the whole class. Now my self-esteem is in the gutter. FML

They have problems that hitting the gym won't fix. Hang in there, OP.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I read this as the three girls tried to justify their behavior as "encouragement" after the staff confronted them, instead of the staff themselves justifying the girls. If that's the case, I'd say the blame is squarely on the mean girls and not the gym. that said, this is a clear case of weight shaming and bullying by low self esteem trash. ignore the noise and keep up with the exercise.

Pity them... If the only thing they can do with their time is follow someone around in a gym and laugh at them, then they have their own issues to sort out. They wouldn't be doing this if they didn't need to feel higher than somebody, meaning that someone or something is making them feel low normally.

Do these two things. 1) If you see them again and they mock you, mock them about how your boobs are bigger than theirs. They won't expect it, and if you can laugh at yourself, it takes away the reaction they want and they won't have anything to say. 2) Stick with the gym. At 360 pounds, a steady gym routine can turn that fat into muscle, so ignore them or better yet, turn their insults into motivation. Once you're lifting twice their weight and have six-pack abs, they'll be sorry they mocked you because they'll want to flirt with you.

It drives me insane when people make fun of others for being overweight/out of shape AT THE GYM. Like, what do they think you're there for? Screw those girls. It is great that you are working towards a healthier lifestyle. Hang in there, OP, and definitely try bringing this up to the manager.

Come here and I'll do proper encouraging, my friend. And if anyone wants to say anything... they'll also have to deal with me. I can't stand assholes like that.

Gyms are only for thin people who can lift. I am overweight myself and that was made very clear to me every time i have been to the gym. Thin and trying to bulk up, and now trying to get rid of the fat. Best thing to say to those bitches "Gym will make ME look better, but honey, YOU need a plastic surgeon"

Don't let them discourage you. Going to the gym is the first step, I would say honestly to find a different gym. Your gym shouldn't support that kind of behavior. Try the YMCA. They are amazing there. Good luck op.

Sorry this happened to you. Obviously you are trying to make changes which is admirable! Don't let stupid, immature, and cruel people ruin what you have going for you. Easier said then done, but you can do it!

All gyms should have rules about respecting others and strict "no body-shaming" policy, but until that happens, I hope you find a gym where you feel comfortable and can accomplish your goal of becoming healthier.
