Today, I took my friend with me for a radiology scan. While I was getting injections, my friend muttered, "On the bright side, if you die, you'll glow in the dark at the funeral." FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Keep some things to yourself
Today, I overheard someone at the mall telling his friend, "So I'm going in for a brain scan." Trying to be funny, I piped up, "Better hope they find something!" Turns out that had been the end of his sentence, and the scan is to see if his cancer has spread. FML
Today, I told my boyfriend about how a few years ago I had cancer, and how I underwent radiation therapy. His response? "Did you glow in the dark?" FML
Don't shoot the messenger
Today, I took my best friend to see her dad in hospital. While they were talking in another room about his care, he took his last lucid words before his death. I was the only one there and I'd never even met him before. FML
Today, I had to get bloodwork done. I'm deathly afraid of needles. The whole lobby heard me scream as soon as the nurse said 'hello'. FML
Today, my needle-phobic mother took me to get a shot. She fainted. FML
Today, my buddy told me he was going to get an HIV test at the health department. Without thinking, I told him to "think positive". FML
WTF?
Today, I went to the hospital for a scan. The tech went wide-eyed and stared at his screen in horror before realizing I could see him. He wouldn't tell me what he saw, apparently only my doctor is allowed to do that. So now I have to wait for god knows how long to get my results back. FML
Today, I attended the funeral of a close friend. Most of the other guests were openly grinning and joking around, and the guy in front of me kept muttering, "That's what she said!" during the eulogy. FML
New sensation
Today, I learned I'm claustrophobic by having a raging oh-god-I'm-gonna-fucking-die panic attack while I was stuck inside an MRI scanner. FML
Today, my friend had to leave work early for a funeral. As he was on his way out, I wanted to say something. All I could think of was, "Have fun!" FML

OP needs to stop being so serious.

Have you considered the possibility that he's scared? We don't know why he had the scan. He may be getting tested for cancer, MS or any number of diseases. Do you think, if you were going through something like that, you'd be in the mood for jokes?

I can not believe that no one has pointed out that you don't get injected with "radioactive fluid" for any sort of radiologic study. It's the machines that produce the radiation. The injection is just contrast. OP sounds like a moron with the "radioactive fluid" bullshit. My apologies for being so ******* rational.

Was waiting for you to post about that. Knew I could count on Doc to speak sense. It's just contrast, someone either didn't explain things to OP properly, or they could just be an idiot.

Maybe he was at the nuclear medicine department and was having a PET scan, but just says radiology because he thinks it's easier to understand. Don't judge so quickly, it's a funny story anyway!

You're 100% right. Before I got sick, I didn't know much about these sorts of things. I'm practically an expert now, lol.

And they'll be able to use radioactive dating to determine your time of death to the millisecond too.

I've been disabled for 16 years, and I've gotten a ton of comments like this. Many people are uncomfortable around the sick, and their heart is in the right place even if their foot's in their mouth. OP, don't judge your friend too harshly. And good luck.
