Today, I told my parents I no longer believe in the religion they strictly raised me under. They responded by kicking me out of the house. I'm broke, jobless, and the only person that will take me in is my psycho ex-girlfriend who never got over me. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
It's not a cult, I swear
Today, my parents threatened to kick me out of the house if I didn't agree to convert to their new brand of Christianity. This is a day after they ranted at me about how I should speak my mind more and not let myself be controlled by other people. FML
Today, I came out to my therapist as gay. Claiming that my parents "can't be that homophobic", my therapist outed me to them. They kicked me out of the house. FML
Supportive
Today, my sister came out as lesbian and my parents kicked her out of the house. I was also kicked out for supporting her. FML
God is Dead 6: Electric Boogaloo
Today, I finally mustered up the courage to tell my overly-religious parents that I'm an agnostic. They asked me why. As soon as I gave my reasons, my mom called me a "bigot" and hurled a bible at me, and it nailed me in the crotch. She then said, "That's what you get, non-believer." FML
Here comes the flood
Today, my tiny apartment flooded. My family lives out of state and the few friends I have all gave me B.S. excuses for why I can't stay over for a few nights. I'm so broke this month that I'll probably have to hit up my psycho ex. FML
Family man
Today, my parents disowned me because I threw out my wife and son after I found out that the kid wasn't mine. According to them, I'm a "heartless asshole." FML
Today, I was kicked out of my aunt's house for being 15 minutes late for her to pick me up. She told me she doesn't want me to come home and left me in a panicked mess. My sister and brother are on her side and refuse to talk to me. I'm now couch surfing. FML
Permission denied
Today, I decided it was a good day to get my first tattoo since turning 18. Today, my parents decided it was a good day to make me homeless, because they are religious nutjobs that still live in the 19th century. Oh, and they’re no longer paying for my tuition. FML
Lost cause
Today, I went to my parents' house after escaping my abusive relationship. My mom scoffed and said, “This is what happens when you move out, barely graduated high school, with a bum.” When I told her I was 3 months pregnant, she said, “And a child out of wedlock? You’re a lost case!” and slammed the door in my face. FML
Get out
Today, my mother kicked me out of the house because her new boyfriend needs my room. Evidently he also needs my credit card, passport, and wallet too, because she kept all three, while tossing everything else out on the lawn. FML

I'm all for standing up for one's beliefs, but if you knew your parents were that strict on their own, you should have at least waited until you were financially stable to say anything.

Good for you for sticking up for your beliefs. I hope it all works out for you and I even hope you can work things out with your parents. Regardless of their intolerant views on religion, they're still your parents and that relationship should be broken by something as trivial (and yes I do see it as trivial) as religion. In the mean time and in between time. Take a big breathe, hold your head up and go bear it with the psycho. It just goes to show how strongly your own beliefs are and that builds character.

YDI. Of course it sucks, but this is a situation of your own making. If your parents are serious about their beliefs (and it seems they are), they genuinely believe their religion and that you are ruining your life - now and for eternity - by falling away from the faith you were raised in. They don't have to be all around crazy people to react as though this is a seriously bad decision that comes with consequences. From their perspective, they probably wanted to impose consequences that reflected how seriously they view this decision. They kicked OP out not because they hated him, but because they love him (not a parenting position I would advocate here, but seems likely and even understandable to me). For the non-religious, consider it similar to having a child throwing their life away on hard drugs or other bad decisions. Or, for all we know, the parents just said something along the lines of "As long as you live under my roof, you will abide by my rules (ie. go to church, respect their beliefs, play along)." And it was the OP who stormed out. It's possible he would be allowed back home if he was willing to eat crow, apologize and play nice. Either way, if this is the stand you're going to take and the situation you've found yourself in... time to be an adult and make your own way. The fact that your ex-girlfriend has her own place makes me think you are at least 18. Get a job/loan ASAP.

Lol..that's pretty funny. But exactly how psycho is she? Psycho enough that you would rather be homeless and broke??

FYL for having religious zealots for parents, but YDI for telling them before you were completely self-reliant.

That is just stupid. When my daughter gets older, she'll be able to chose whichever religion she wants. Religion should be a personal choice. I'm not a dictator but her mom!!! Would they kick you out if you were dating someone of a different race/country as well? **** close minded people.
