Today, I talked to my boss about the fact that I have been diagnosed as bipolar and I am having a really hard time with it. He told me to look on the bright side, now that I'm crazy I will never have to do Jury Duty. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Wow, thanks, I'm cured
Today, I'm on the verge of losing my job because of my poor mental health. I've been on a wait list for therapy/psych services for over a year already. My boss's response was, "It can't be that bad, just stop thinking about it." I have PTSD, OCD, BPD, ADHD, bipolar depression and anxiety. FML
Toxic masculinity
Today, I'm depressed. After trying to talk to my boss about it, twice, as it has been affecting my work, I've been told to, "Stop thinking about it" and to, "Man up." He has also told me to come to him with any problems I'm having, and to be honest with him. FML
Out of the frying pan…
Today, I came home after spending two days in the hospital for suicidal ideation and found a summons for jury duty in the mail. FML
Thanks, I hate it
Today, my boss called me into his office. Expecting a long overdue promotion, I hurried in. Instead, he told me he thought I would be perfect to take his son on a pity date, because he's a suicide risk due to his depression. FML
Awareness
Today, I was told I have bipolar disorder. I'm 31. It took so long to diagnose because my mom always figured I was "just a super bitch half the time." FML
Today, my psychiatrist said, "Well, good luck." at the end of my appointment. FML
Compassion
Today, I called my boss to let her know that I was suffering from severe depression and that my doctor suggested I take a month's leave. Her response? "Glad you are getting help, however we can't hold your job. No need to come to the office, we'll mail your stuff to you." FML
Today, my best friend said we couldn't be friends anymore because I'm too depressed or too happy all the time. After explaining for half an hour what bipolar depression was and how I have it he just said, "Bullshit!" FML
Assumptions
Today, a guy at work pulled me aside to tell me that I probably shouldn't be working a job where I have to interact with customers, because of my autism. I don't have autism. FML
Losing
Today, my boss claimed that I've been lying to get days off because apparently nobody can be so unlucky as to have three family members die within a month. I'm just that unlucky, and suspended. FML

um, and ADD is still a real disorder. even if its overdiagnosed, those of us who actually have it and have to deal have a hard enough time without the six million people who say "oh, theres no way you actually have ADD" or "ADD isn't real" or whatever. also, you really can't diagnose a stranger over the internet, as disappointing as that may be for you.

Maybe he was just kidding around. I have similar diagnoses and when I open up to people about it occasional, sometimes they make a joke about it. That usually means they're just uncomfortable about the subject. Don't take it personally.

Why is this and FML? No jury duty, you've got it made. BTW, bipolar disorder is almost as wrongfully diagnosed as ADD, so I would bet the odds are 3 to 1 you don't have it

I don't know what I'd say if someone came out with that to me unprepared but it'd probably be something like that.

Wow, you're so over-sensitive. I would have laughed if I told my boyfriend I have bipolar disorder (which I do) and he did that.

I'd of taken it as a compliment, I'm actually severely depressed. So one less stressor (jury duty) Sounds really good in my book

Is this true can you really get out of jury duty if you say you have bipolar
GlitterTwin 4
No. It's not true that if you SAY you have bipolar you get out of jury duty. If you actually HAVE bipolar, then you might get out of it, depending of the severity. Besides, you have to have proof. You can't just say you have bipolar and they'll believe you. They need proof from a doctor.

I'm sure he was just trying to cheer you up and doesn't know how to handle something like that. :3 Give the guy a break.

He's right and jury duty sucks. I'm glad I don't have to go any more. I lost a ton of money and couldn't pay my bills last time I got called up. The case lasted 2 weeks and we got $8 a day stipend. I live alone and make a lot more than $8 a day, and have the bills to go with it. $8 doesn't cover the parking....

Haha don't take it so seriously, I'd say he was just trying to be funny to cheer you up.
