Today, I spent my date night babysitting. After waiting three hours later than I was supposed, the mother finally gets home at 11, too late for me to get out and have any fun. Already annoyed, I take the money as she says, "I hope this is enough, I got hungry and spent some of your money." FML

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I babysat the most annoying and obnoxious kids for almost eight hours, when the parents assured me that they would only be gone about three or so hours. After constant calling and worrying, they finally showed up at 11:30, completely drunk. The mother paid me with three dollars and a banana. FML
Today, I called my usual babysitter, one of the few people who can handle my difficult kids, to ask her to watch them for a night next week. She refused. It turns out my wife has been repeatedly underpaying her and she's fed up with it. So long date nights, I guess. FML
Today, I babysat for a woman for the first time. When I arrived, there was a large pile of dishes in the sink. I decided to wash the dishes for her while the kids napped. She came home, noticed it, and bitched me out over how I'd only done it "to try and get more money" out of her. What? FML
Today, my date unexpectedly brought her friend to dinner with us. They seemed bored of me after ten minutes and left me out of their conversation for the rest of the night. Oh, and they made me pay for both of them. FML
Today, instead of going to a romantic dinner with my boyfriend like I'd planned, I ended up babysitting his queasy little sister. FML
Today, my date made me pay him for picking me up, and taking me back home. FML
Today, I babysat for my neighbor's brat kid. The mom gave me $15 for 5 hours. I complained to my mom when I got home because last time I got $15/hour. Turns out my mom had told my neighbor that she thought they'd paid me too much last time. Thanks mom. Thanks. FML
Today, I taught a kid piano for a two hour lesson. The mom left to do some errands, and by the time two hours was up, she texted me asking to watch the kid for another "15 minutes" while she returned home. No problem, she had the money too, so I stayed. Four hours later, she showed up, and refused to pay me extra. FML
Today, I went on a date. After we finished our meal, I had to use the bathroom really bad. When I said so, my date totally lost it and accused me of planning on climbing out a window and ditching her. "Fuck that and fuck you!" she said, then stormed out, leaving me with the bill. FML
Today, I babysat a kid who was such a bratty little prick that I actually considered walking out on the job. After his mom finally got home 4 hours later, he called her a slut. When he got in trouble for it, he claimed that I taught him the word. Needless to say, I didn't get paid. FML

If it's really that big a deal, just tell her. "Sorry, actually we agreed (however much) and it's not really fair to under pay me". As for her being late, yeah that sucks, but are you telling me you've never kept anybody waiting at their inconvenience?

But three hours late is a problem. For babysitters under 18, that can cause legal trouble because some towns have curfews and the mother's tardiness might leave the girl in a bad situation.

where does it say anything about drugs?! Basically the OP was gonna go out after babysitting and parents were meant to get back at 8 but got back 11 and she couldn't go out Then she got underpaid because the mother spent some of the money on food. That so hard to understand? lol

that's a good point, should have thought of that :) but seriously, 10 pm? that's so early. I didn't know that it was like that in the US. here it is 12 for everyone older than 16, and in some clubs/bars you can also stay as long as you want to because they either don't check or you are accompanied someone older who is "in charge" of you. but we are also allowed to get wasted as soon as we are 16 :)
