Today, I spent a hundred dollars on new "business casual" clothes and took two hours to get ready for my interview with a government agency. My interviewer was blind. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
The old switcheroo
Today, I had a job interview. I didn't have any clothes suitable for the interview, so I went to the store early and bought some there. After the interview, I went to return the clothes, because they were so expensive. The hiring manager saw me. FML
Today, I went for a job interview I scheduled 3 weeks ago. I spent $200 on a new suit to really impress them and practised like crazy every imaginable question they could ask. They already had filled the position 2 weeks ago and forgot to inform me. FML
What the…
Today, I had what I thought would be an important (and formal) interview. Not only did I turn up completely overdressed, the man who was interviewing me arrived 30 minutes late. To top it all off, I was so distracted by his mysterious total lack of eyebrows that I forgot everything I had to say. FML
Today, I was kicked out of a job interview at a clothing store for "not dressing appropriately" for the occasion. I'd purchased my outfit from the same store just two days prior with my last $100. FML
Today, I had my first interview after weeks of applying everywhere, but I got turned away for being "inappropriately dressed" for the interview. I was wearing the smartest clothes I own. FML
Keeping up appearances
Today, my friends gave me a complete makeover, which included clothes from their wardrobe, to prepare me for an upcoming job interview. I was then declined the position, because apparently, I "looked too wealthy" to need the job. FML
Today, I walked into a door on my way in to an interview, in front of the interviewer and a group of people waiting to be interviewed. FML
Great first impression
Today, I woke up early for a job interview. I got lost and arrived an hour late, only to find out it was the wrong day. FML
Time is money
Today, I had a job interview that I had spent hours preparing for it. When I arrived, the interviewer told me the position had been filled already and they forgot to notify me. I wasted a whole fucking day for nothing. FML
Today, I had a job interview. I have major OCD, and I had to sit in a room with a man covered in cat hair, struggling to even survive for an hour and a half. FML

Hahaha. The originality of this FML made me laugh. This was truly a good one. *Hat off*

No one could have possibly guessed that outcome. The clothes could easily be used somewhere else. There's nothing wrong with taking time to look presentable. The most I ask is that every one would shower but some people decide disgusting others is more important. Breaking Benjamin is a horrifyingly bad band.

So you would've dressed differently if you had known he was blind? That makes you a bit of a dick.

If you had good perfume on, I doubt it'd matter. He's blind, not "restricted from ALL sensory information."

This isn't an fml. I bet your interviewer asked the receptionist what you looked like afterwards, and if you'd turned up looking scruffy it would appear that you didn't care. You're still going to need to be well-presented if you get the job, and if you don't get the job you'll need the garb for future interviews. Why whinge about this?

on the phone: interviewer: "great; come in on [insert date here] and i'll interview you. by the way, i'm blind." op: "ok! i'll wear the shittiest clothes i can find! see you there!" ...because this is how things happen in real life! |the kid|

"Do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips..." What does that have to do with the FML?

YDI for being a superficial freakwad. Nobody should ever spend more than $20 on one outfit, nor more than five minutes making themselves look presentable. Anyone who makes a habit (i.e., more than twice per lifetime) of such self-obsessed, deplorable "routines" ought to be purged. And it really shouldn't even happen twice.

Dude, a pair of freakin' simple jeans is more than 20 bucks. Showers take more than 5 minutes for most people. What you're telling us is that it's okay to be a grungy, gunky urchin.

So this is why you haven't been asked out in a while.

Idiot, the interviewer could easily turn to ask somebody "How'd they look?" Experience: My sister is blind.

Sorry but if you're interviewing for a government agency, "business casual" is what you could get away with on an average day AFTER you're hired. Showing up to an initial interview dressed like that is no better than wearing shorts and flip-flops. Go with a shirt, tie, and jacket, you probably only have to wear it that one time and you'll make a much better impression.

Oh and a hundred dollars is par for the course - these people saying you spent too much have obviously never bought quality clothes. If you spent 20 bucks on an outfit, well you look like you spent 20 bucks on an outfit.. Good luck on any other interviews :)
