Today, I had my first interview after weeks of applying everywhere, but I got turned away for being "inappropriately dressed" for the interview. I was wearing the smartest clothes I own. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was kicked out of a job interview at a clothing store for "not dressing appropriately" for the occasion. I'd purchased my outfit from the same store just two days prior with my last $100. FML
The old switcheroo
Today, I had a job interview. I didn't have any clothes suitable for the interview, so I went to the store early and bought some there. After the interview, I went to return the clothes, because they were so expensive. The hiring manager saw me. FML
Keeping up appearances
Today, my friends gave me a complete makeover, which included clothes from their wardrobe, to prepare me for an upcoming job interview. I was then declined the position, because apparently, I "looked too wealthy" to need the job. FML
Today, I wore my best suit to an interview. I was told they didn't have any knight shifts available. FML
Today, my mother insisted I dress very smartly in suit attire for my first job interview at a hippy-style retail store. My interviewer wore a poncho. I didn't get the job. FML
Waste of time
Today, I went to a job interview. I never applied for the job, they'd sought me out, had a phone interview, and sent samples, all before the face-to-face interview. Turns out none of the people I met with had even read my resume or writing samples. I was told I might not be a good fit. FML
Today, I finally got an interview at a restaurant after looking for a job for three months. I dressed nice, and the interview was going well until this blonde girl in booty shorts and fishnets walked in. The manager hired her on the spot. FML
Today, I had an interview for an internship at an independent lawyer's office. Hoping to increase my chances of being hired, I dressed up sexily with a short skirt, high heels, and ample cleavage. Turns out his wife handles the interviews. FML
Today, I was turned down from my dream job at a graphic design firm. Before the interview, concerned about my hobo style would not impress the company, I shaved, cut my long hair, and even bought a suit. They said I wasn't "free-spirited and creative enough." FML
Today, I spent a hundred dollars on new "business casual" clothes and took two hours to get ready for my interview with a government agency. My interviewer was blind. FML

"Inappropriate"..."smartest clothes I own"...? Did you wear fashion clothes to an industrual site, OP? Anybody remember Zoolander, when he is trying to work in the coal mine? LMAO But seriously OP, WTF did they find fault with? Don't leave us all to die of curiosity!

" was wearing the smartest clothes I own." This statement means absolutely nothing. For all we know, your smartest clothes could be a pair of daisy dukes and a halter top.

My dad was in the hospital for a few weeks and as his health care proxy (& the fact that he is useless when it comes to that stuff 😂) I was there almost the entire time. Nurses, doctors and aides always asked if I was his wife or sister - I wish we responded this way! 😂

What's "smart clothes"? Also what were you applying for? What were you actually wearing? When applying for a creative job, you might not want to show up in very formal clothes, for example.

"club smart" or "work smart"?

Well, that was dumb.
