Today, I once again told my son he needed a job and a girlfriend because I simply could not keep him in my house anymore. He yelled, "No, I can do whatever I want!" Then went back to playing video games. He's 38. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Gamers rise up
Today, despite the fact that I've lived alone for four years, and have a well-paid job, my father is still whining about, "Why am I still playing video games at age 32?" FML
Authoritarian regime
Today, after my husband yet again failed to complete his To-Do list, I took away his Xbox and PlayStation and told him he could have them back once the list was done. He stared at me and said, "No. You're not my mother. Give them back and we will talk like adults." FML
I'm a rebel, mom!
Today, my son is going through a rebellious phase. He's taken to wearing leather and chains, listening to death metal music all day in his room alone, and screaming at me in public places. He was fired from his part-time job for swearing at customers. My son is 29 years old. FML
Sounds like he's got it all figured out
Today, my son apparently has no interest in having a life. He goes from his tiny one-bed flat to work, then back home again to play with his computer. It’s a good job, so he can afford a life, but he has no friends, never dates or goes anywhere, he even gets his shopping delivered. What can I do? FML
Today, I found out my son has been sneaking out of his room at night to see his girlfriend. He's a fully-grown 23-year-old man with a job and his own car. He doesn't need to sneak out. What an idiot. FML
Teenage Riot
Today, my son had a screaming meltdown because I told him to clean his own room and that I refuse to be treated like his personal maid. He’s 16. FML
Family matters
Today, in response to the guy whose son told him to fuck off for disturbing his one day off a week, my son spent literally his entire savings account for a deposit on a shitbox one bedroom house because he’s sick of his dad finding him things to do every ten minutes, and I don’t even blame him. FML
Micromanagement
Today, my son screamed at me to fuck off. Apparently, because he only gets one day off a week, he’s sick of me saving up all my projects and forcing him to help me on that one day. He’s now barricaded himself in his room with a big DO IT YOURSELF on the door. FML
Mixed messages
Today, I learned that my wife lets our son play video games while I'm at work to "keep him out of her hair." We had agreed that he was forbidden from gaming until his grades came up, but apparently she can't be bothered to actually parent. FML
He got game
Today, my son told me he's had 5 boyfriends and is currently working to improve himself before getting into another relationship. When I was his age, I was still single. My son has more game than I do. FML

Did you ever think about addressing this problem a little earlier?

My mom kicked me out when I was four years old. Thats when I started prostitution. Eventually, I had seventeen girls working for me. I started to feel guilty for what I was doing, so to cope, I started mixing cocaine into my bottle. That took a little bit of the edge off, so then I started shooting bug juice. Things just starting getting worse from there. One day, while I was shopping for diapers, this other pimp came into the store and accused me of taking a few of his girls. He started shooting and I took three bullets to the chest. The ambulance came and took me to the hospital. A little later on, the police found out that I was a pimp. They then charged me. Being too young to go to prison, or even juvie, they put it on my record, permenantly. When I got out of the hospital, my mom came and took me home. Now, thirty-four years later, I still live at home. Because of the record, no one will hire me, I cannot get a girlfriend, and I can't rent my own place. I play video games all day because they allow me to be someone else, and I can forget my past for a little while. When my mom told me to get a job and a girlfriend, I freaked out and started reliving my past. I then yelled at her and started playing video games so that I could stop thinking about my past.

why don't you take his things away and then tell him that you will get them back when you get a job and tell him that it ain't heathly to be doing that all day and one day he is going to thank you for what you did

you will appreciate this when you get old and need him. might as well play it smart and keep him.

Put him out. Grow a pair, cut the damn cord already, and launch that ass.

the argument ends there?? he must be so spoiled... 1) throw him out of the house 2) throw all his things out on the streets 3) change locks 4) give him $3000 to start a new life, that should be enough for a few months, so he has time to find a job and a place.
