Today, I met my son for the first time since I had to put him up for adoption over two decades ago. I wanted to make amends and get to know him. Instead, all I got to know was how well he can throw a punch. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Nice meeting you…
Today, I met my biological father for the first time. He seemed to be slightly intoxicated from the outset, and less than half an hour later, he had tried to intimidate me into "loaning" him several hundred euros for reasons he wouldn't tell me. So long, "dad". FML
Today, I saw my son. I didn't know I had a son. FML
Picky
Today, my son broke up with his girlfriend. When I asked why, he said, "Because I found out she's adopted. Ugh. I just can't with that, y'know?" Never before have I ever felt the desire to disown one of my kids. It's not a pleasant feeling. FML
How does that work?
Today, after I spent years, and thousands of dollars, searching for my birth father, he changed his mind about adopting me. FML
This Is Us
Today, I located my birth dad and asked him why I was put into care. Turns out my mom died, and since he hadn’t wanted me in the first place, he just gave me away and hoped to never see me again. He didn’t even invite me in, he threw a beer at me and threatened to call the cops unless I left. FML
Confusing guys and their bro code
Today, my son tried to fight my husband, his step-dad, who knocked him to the floor with one good punch. I was ready to throw my husband out, but an hour later they were having a heart-to-heart, and now they get along better than they ever have. HUH?!! FML
Let down
Today, after an ex let me know I have a 19 year old-son. I was beyond excited so I spent the weekend with them and I can tell you now, the boy is a complete prick, and I prefer to continue to claim I’m childless rather than admit I fathered that arrogant, rude, selfish, entitled little shit. FML
Today, I met my biological parents for the first time. Their justification for giving me up for adoption was that I wasn't conceived at the ideal time for them. Apparently, the ideal time was six months after the adoption, when they conceived the first of my two brothers. FML
Harsh but fair
Today, I lashed out at the father of my son for not doing anything for the baby. He replied, “I never did shit for you to begin with, didn’t you watch the preview? You knew what you were getting yourself into.” FML
Breaking
Today, my mom told me that she had great news: we were going to meet my biological parents. I didn't know I was adopted. FML

You're right, he should've left him in a dumpster.

Having been adopted myself, I know how the kid feels. My birth mom lost me to her own addictions and selfishness. I haven't had contact since I was two. Went in and out of foster care until I was 7 when I was adopted. Had some tough teenage years, but I learned. I looked for my birth mom and I found her but I've chosen not to pursue a relationship with someone who is still being selfish.

I was adopted myself and hold no grudge against my birth parents. perhaps maybe it was something OP said. I wish you the best of luck with reconnecting with your child OP :)

Sorry OP you gave him up no matter what the circumstance you gave up all right to contact him. Don't after somebody else possibly multiple people brought him up expect to waltz back into his life. Forget your son all that links you now is DNA you no longer have the right to call him your son. (oh and if you can't tell nerve well and truly struck)

Meeting your parents for the first time can be tough. Hopefully your realtionship will get better as you get to know him more.

My dad wanted nothing to do with me as a child, now he is not allowed to be at my funeral. If he didn't want to be there for my childhood, he doesn't get to pretend he cared as an adult. I have a 7 year old daughter and NOTHING would keep me away from her.

How are there so many people saying YDI? Sometimes the best thing a person can do for their child is give them to a safe home to a couple who wants a child and can take care of it completely. Obviously we don't know OP's situation but just because he put his kid up for adoption doesn't make him a bad person. He could have saved that kid from a lot of hardship and pain.

Were you trying to fist bump him?

I'm about to go see my dad for the first time in my life. I'm 20. And I don't plan on punching him at all. I plan on figuring out what happened why it happened and of I can or cant have a relationship with him now.
