Today, I met a really cute guy at work. He asked for my number, and I wrote it down on a piece of paper. After looking at the paper, he crumpled it up, yelled "Do you think I'm stupid? I know the rejection hotline when I see it", and walked away. It was my real phone number. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, a cute guy came up to me and asked for my phone number. I was super excited and began to write it down when he said, "It doesn't have to be your real number, I'm not gonna call anyway." I still gave him my real number. FML
Today, while in class, a cute boy came up and asked me for my number. I giggled and wrote my phone number on a piece of paper and told him to call me sometime. He gave me a weird look and walked away. He was asking which number math problem I needed help with. FML
Nice guy
Today, I finally worked up the courage to ask a cute guy for his number. Once he had given me his, he asked for mine. My initial happiness was deflated when he said, "OK, now I can just block every message from you," and walked away. FML
Jot that down
Today, I wrote my phone number on a Post-it note and gave it to a cute girl at work. She immediately threw it away. In front of me. FML
Today, I went to a club with a couple of my friends. I met a really cute guy and we were getting along pretty well. We eventually exchanged numbers. Later on I decided to call him and set up a date. The number he gave me was the Rejection Hotline number. FML
Today, a cute girl I know in passing approached me very nervously and blushing like mad. She gave me a note with a number on it, said to call her, then ran away. When I called the number later, it was one of those rejection hotlines. What the hell? FML
Today, I spoke to my crush for the first time, and after a while he asked for my number. Ecstatic, I took the first piece of paper I saw out of my purse. I wrote it down and gave it to him, but he handed it back and said, "You might need this." It was an appointment card for my therapist. FML
Today, I worked up the courage to give a guy my number. I wrote it down on a piece of paper, tore it in half and gave it to him. Later, I noticed I'd given him the wrong, blank half. FML
Today, I was talking to a guy I really liked, hoping that he would ask me out. Eventually he asked for my number. I was so excited that I couldn't remember it. FML
Classic
Today, I asked a very cute fireman for his number, "just in case I needed him to come to my rescue." He told me, "Yeah, sure!" and scribbled it down. After he walked away, I read his note, which read: "911". FML

who "recognizes" the rejection hotline?? how many times has he seen it for it to be stuck in his head like that. You're lucky you avoided that situation girl.

Wow. I think you just saved yourself a whole lot of trouble in getting involved with someone that insecure! If he flies off the handle that easily and is so frequently rejected that he knows the rejection hotline, I think we can safely say that you're better off!!

Even if he actually thought that was the rejection hotline, there are smoother ways of responding to that. I mean it really shouldn't be that hard to make enough of a comeback to get a girl's real number in a situation like that, especially if he happens to be cute. Outbursts like that are rarely an isolated incident. He probably got burned before because of his attitude, and since he isn't too bright he thought he got the same number again.

he's not a keeper anyway, obviously, if he has the Rejection Hotline MEMORIZED.

equidem (indeed), and even less so if he has it memorized WRONG lol. OP: well I guess it's better to have learnt that he has a faulty memory now, rather than if he'd forgotten some important anniversary in the future and u got cut over that... :P

Stupid guy. At least you found out sooner. (It'll be even funnier if he read this. FHL.)

#17, are you serious? If I had a choice, my phone number would be (110) 110-1101 ... maybe.
