Today, I'm planning my big sister's wedding. My long-term, live-in boyfriend walked by and saw me looking at the wedding tab on Pinterest, smirked, and said, "Don't get your hopes up." I had. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Copycat
Today, I found out that my fiancé's sister, who only got engaged a couple of months ago, is getting married before us. I wouldn't have a problem with this if she wasn't planning her wedding to be exactly like ours will be. FML
Today, my sister asked me if I was going to be getting married "for real" this time, because she didn't want to waste her money like she did on my previous engagement. The reason that one didn't work out in the first place is because she slept with my fiancé. FML
Congratulations, you played yourself!
Today, I was at a family gathering when my aunt asked me if I was seeing anyone special. In a tired and sarcastic tone, I jokingly said, “I’m actually getting married next month!” The room went silent, then some of them cheered. I had to explain I was kidding, but now they’re looking forward to a wedding I didn’t agree to. FML
Today, I found my sister's wedding book. Inside it was a list of potential grooms; she'd written down all of my ex-boyfriends. And my fiancé. We're getting married in three weeks. FML
Scheming
Today, I was supposed to get married. Instead, my sister made up a story about me cheating on my fiancé at the bachelorette party. He bought it and dumped me, despite there being no evidence of this. Turns out it was all a plan because they were secretly seeing each other for months. FML
Eavesdropping ain't a good idea
Today, I overheard my boyfriend's future sister-in-law ask him not to bring me to the wedding. Apparently, me being so much shorter than everyone else is "embarrassing" and "would make the pictures look weird." FML
Banished
Today, my older sister told me about their table plan at their wedding. She is one of my best friends too, so I was shocked that I had been placed far away, and separated from my husband. FML
Chopped
Today, my girlfriend caught the bouquet at her sister's wedding. I took it as a sign so after we got home, I proposed. She laughed and said no way. I'm done. FML
Today, my sister called me and asked if my boyfriend of 3 years had proposed to me yet. And now the surprise is ruined. FML
Acceptance
Today, I overheard my soon to be step-daughter telling her friend on the phone that she hopes that mine and her father's wedding is just a big joke, and that he isn't really going to go through with it. I just dropped five grand on a dress and venue. She's in for a surprise. FML

He probably doesn't even deserve you OP. I bet that wedding, will be beautiful, too!!

Weddings stir up emotions, and it's likely your boyfriend will witness the special moment and want it for himself too. Keep positive, it'll come eventually. Unless there's a dramatic plot twist, and your sister/her fiancé dramatically leaves like in a soap opera.

Maybe is time to have a conversation about the future with him and see where he sees you guys. If he doesn't see marriage in the future it may be time to move on and find your future husband.

Wow, your boyfriend is rude, no offense. You don't even deserve him, if he is going to be like that then leave him

You thought that was rude? Geez! There are a lot of overly sensitive people on this thread.

Why stAy with someone long term if there's no future?

Aww, how cute/naive, someone thinks love has term limits.

I know how you feel. My boyfriend and I have a baby together and when I brought up the topic of marriage a couple of months ago, he didn't want to talk about it and said not to bring it up again. I now hate seeing anything wedding related as it depresses me. But in your case, talk to him about it. Let him know you're in it for the long haul and need to know if he is too. If he is, he just might not be ready. If he isn't, then you should move on.

#46 > That's pretty unfair and selfish of your boyfriend to say he doesn't want to discuss an issue that is clearly important to you. He should at least bring valid arguments as to why he doesn't want to get married, ie costs, and even then, you can have a cheap wedding. Unless your baby was a birth control accident, I guess he was planning to spend his life with you if he wanted a child. Either way, he shouldn't shut out such an important issue.

Cheer up OP. before I proposed to my wife I would make jokes like that to try and throw her off the scent. Then BAM! Never expected it!

Rude comment. However, wanting to grow old with someone and wanting to marry someone are not the same thing. He could just not see the point in marriage but still want to grow old with you. Also, perhaps he was only commenting on expensive/lavish decorations?

Dump his ungrateful ass!! Nobody deserves to be strung along and babe that's exactly what he's doing if he doesn't want to marry you. There are certain things in this world, romantic relationships being one of many, that remain constant to the phrase "shit or get off the pot"

Wow, seriously people, if you think marriage is the recipe for staying together all life, you should check out statistics on divorces. As it ws mentioned before, the fact that he doesn't want to get married doesn't mean he doesn't want to stay with OP for the rest of his life.
