Today, I learned that there's a billboard-sized photo of me and my ex hanging in the airport advertising my college. Travelers from all over the world have now seen me smiling at graduation with the guy who cheated on me after 3 years together. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, the boy who loved me and left me literally became the poster boy for my college. His picture is on the home page of the college website and on a banner in the cafeteria where I eat every day. FML
Today, I ran into my ex-girlfriend, the love of my life. Actually I ran into a billboard for her college, where apparently she is the new "poster girl" for their advertising campaign. I have now seen her on 2 billboards, a newspaper ad and a bus. FML
(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me
Today, riding the bus home from my domestic violence group therapy, I saw a billboard with the face of my ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend on it. FML
Tact and charm
Today, the girl my boyfriend cheated on me with posted pics of them kissing on Facebook, and tagged me in them. FML
Memories that hurt
Today, I was looking at an old post between my ex and me on Facebook. Everything I was reading was adorable. Just as I was reminiscing about the great relationship we had, I look to the right of the screen to see the girl he cheated on me with in "People you may know." Thanks Facebook. FML
Salt meet wound
Today, my ex-girlfriend sent me an email. I was excited that she wanted to make amends for cheating on me before I dumped her. No, the email had a photo of her making out with the guy she cheated on me with, and the caption, "What you wish you still had". FML
Move on, dude
Today, looking on the internet, I came across my ex's Facebook page. Most of the posts were about me, and his profile picture was still of me and him. We broke up over a year ago. FML
Oh, hai Mark!
Today, I ran into my ex-boyfriend on campus. Upset, I decided to go to McDonald's to eat my painful memories away. While in the drive-thru line, I realized my ex was right in front of me. It looked like I'd followed him all the way from campus. He thinks I'm a stalker now. FML
The nerve!
Today, my now-ex broke up with me after alleging that I cheated on her. I didn't do anything, for the record. When I told my sister about it, she showed me a screenshot of an Instagram story where my ex was tagged, two weeks before leaving me. My ex was actually making out with another dude. FML
Today, after 3 years, I saw my ex, who I still love, at a coffee shop. Being nice, I said hi. He turned around, looked at me, and said, "Thank God I broke up with you. You look like a hot mess!" before getting up and walking out with his model girlfriend. FML

"Welcome to our university, where your long term boyfriends will cheat on you and we'll advertise it for everyone to see at the airport!" That's one hell of a billboard! The graphic designer must've had a bad day..

Did you give anyone permission for your photograph to be used this way?

Legally you don't need to give permission if you post photos to Facebook- online. any third party can legally take and use them without your knowledge and not have to pay you if you post photos online. Because you post them online it's public property. Even says that about Facebook photos

You are half correct. If your image is being used and they're making money off it (They would be as its used to recruit) She can ask to take it down. But what a lot of people don't know is when you sign up for colleges/universities, some of the papers you sign give away your rights to claim photos taken on their property or during their events. Since it was (i'm assuming) the graduation taken at the school, she has no right to it. (Again, if she had signed the paperwork stating the school can use photos as they see fit) Did the school hire photographers to take photos of the event, and it was someone the school hired? It's the schools photo on their own private property. It may cost money to have it removed, or perhaps she could just write a well-worded letter asking to remove or receive a monetary credit.

I was redundant with the "Someone a school hired sentence" I really wish I could edit again. :\

Maybe on Facebook, but if you post photos online, it does not give people the legal right to use them in any way, especially commercially. For example, big company websites are plastered with their logo, it does not mean you can use their logo or images if you want to advertize your own thing. Like lets say it is a wrist watch company, you can not take a picture of their model wearing the watch and then use it to advertise something like "Our Resume Writers are here for you just in time" and advertize your resume writing website. People can and will steal images, but it is not legal. You can be sued. Different websites will sometimes include in their ToS that they can own or use your images, it depends where you post them.

You must go to the airport quite often for it to bother you because people that don't know you won't realize that you were a couple and he cheated on you

I saw that sign! I thought the dude’s smile said, “I just got laid — and not by this one.” Your smile said, “Yay! I’m done with my formal education! Now, I can become famous on FML! I wonder what story will get me there?”

Don't worry, people will just think it's two paid actors. Who would of thought you guys were an actual couple?

Without your consent, that's illegal.

Surely there's someone you could contact to take it down. Did you have to sign a waiver or contract of any sort that it was okay that the college could use photos of you however you wanted?

Kind of fitting though, people are used to getting cheated on airlines.
