Today, I held the door open for a woman and her kids on my way out of the bank. She started accusing me of patronizing her, and when I just let go of the door in protest, she deliberately leaned in so it hit her in the face. I felt the glares from the entire bank as she pretended to cry. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, a woman yelled at me for holding a door open for her. FML
Today, I was leaving the grocery store when an old woman started yelling at me for not holding the door open for her. She accused me of being "everything wrong with the younger generation". It was an automatic door. FML
Today, I was waiting in line while a lady paid for her shopping, when her credit card got declined. She started ranting and insulting everyone and kept insisting: "I'm not poor!" By the time the lady had finally stormed off, I had spittle on my face, and the cashier was almost in tears. FML
Not my fault!
Today, I tried to be helpful by holding the door open for a woman carrying boxes. She smiled and hurried toward me, then tripped and dropped everything at my feet. She stared at me like I'd caused it, and said, “Thanks” through clenched teeth. FML
Go away, lady!
Today, at work, I had a customer accuse me of taking the giftcard I had issued her for her return, after spending 15 minutes trying to fix her screwed up transaction. She began to yell, and follow me around the store. Security had to intervene and I had to be locked in an office until she left. FML
Today, at work, I decided to try and impress this girl walking behind me by holding the door open for her. As she was walking through, I inadvertently pulled the door too hard. It slammed against the wall and ricochet back, hitting her right in the face. FML
Today, a customer yelled at me so furiously that she sprayed my face with spittle. I had to stand there, smiling and politely explaining that I needed to see a receipt before I could give her a refund. When she finally gave up and left, my boss bitched me out for "provoking the customer". FML
Child labor
Today, I was dining out with friends. I saw a mom instructing her young child to go to empty tables and take whatever cash had been left. I discreetly told the manager. He confronted the woman and pointed right at me. As she was being thrown out, she tossed a very heavy mug at my head. It hit me. FML
Respect should be earned
Today, while out in public, my stepmom turned and screamed at me for a good while for “walking through a door before an elder.” People stared. FML
Today, I noticed a woman struggling to work a parking meter, so I went over to help. She took one look at me before screaming, hitting me in the face, and running back to her car. FML

She probably was very stressed out because of her kids. Try to understanding

Being stressed doesn't give you the excuse to be an asshole.

@23, so why would she lean into the door? She thought it might knock her out and it would get her away from her kids? OP was being nice and she turned it into a civil rights crusade. Just say "thank you" regardless of who's holding it. How hard is that?

This is one reason why chivalry is almost dead. I'm surprised she hasn't tried to sue you with her fraudulent injury. Definitely needs a follow up...
CinnamonBunny 16
Chivalry is bullshit. Holding the door open for someone is just the decent thing to do, regardless of gender, especially if they're towing round a couple of kids. Sorry this ******* bell end didn't appreciate your kindness, OP.

#65 a follow up for what? "she hasn't tried to sue me yet. I'll follow up again tomorrow". not much to follow up on.

If that was my mother I would be so embarrassed. This lady should be ashamed and teach her kids better.

Imagine what her poor kids must go through.

One of the kids should step up and tell the mom to stop acting like child.
MortenM 17
Imagine what the kids will end up like with a mum that'll go that far to get any attention.
krad204 21
That's insulting to children, even they don't act like that.

I hope you hit her with the door again in the back on the way out.

That would be well deserved but a bad example for her kids

103 - With her for a mother, those kids are going to be shitstains regardless of what OP does.

She got some insecurity issues. At least you had the mind to help. Don't let some thickheads make you stop doing that.
VonBlitzkrieg 27
Or maybe she's just a feminist.

Dont you just hate people like her.

I would have just slammed it on her face and walked away
Mauskau 36
I always hold the door open for people, even if they're far away because it's funny watching them run. This woman is just a whiny bitch.
