Today, I had to get two teenagers to stop playing bumper cars with the electric scooters at the grocery store I work at. I'm seventeen, and they don't pay me enough for this. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I stopped two little boys from spitting over a railing at the piano player two floors below in the department store I work at. Their mom complained to my boss about me. FML
OK doomer
Today, it's been 3 weeks since I, a 17-year-old, have been working 50 hours a week at a grocery store trying to keep our shelves stocked during coronavirus panic-buying. It was also the day a customer informed me that, "All you teenagers are lazy and that's why the shelves are empty." FML
Mismanagement
Today, my parents accidentally bounced some checks through a miscommunication. They now owe the bank $700 and can't afford groceries, which means we're relying on me, a 17-year-old girl who works at McDonald's 2 days a week, to get us by for the next few weeks. FML
Today, while I was working at the golf course, two kids stole a golf cart and pulled a snowboard behind it. When I tried to stop them, they ran me over. FML
Today, I had to go down to the county police department to bail out my kids who thought it would be a good idea to try mugging an ice cream truck driver. FML
Today, at work, I had to help a teenager who was stuck in a toy car for kids, and no, it was not in one piece when she finally got out. FML
Losing it
Today, at work, I served a rude ass customer and his bratty ass kid, and was forced to swipe her toy debit card so it appeared as if the daughter paid for her snack. In that moment, I questioned my entire existence. Whichever company invented that toy hates cashiers everywhere. FML
Today, my 18 year-old daughter comes home, telling me she has been fired from her job at McDonalds. The reason? They had iCarly Happy Meal toys and she couldn't resist stealing one. FML
Today, while I was working at a supermarket, a kid started to cry in line because he couldn't get candy. Since we have free lollipops behind the desk, I gave him one. His mom complained to my manager and said I was grooming her child. FML
Make your minds up
Today, I was offered a job that pays far more than I expected, being a high school senior. My parents decided they aren't letting me take the job, saying I should enjoy my childhood. They're also not paying for my college, which is why I was looking for work in the first place. FML

You can be thankful you have a job and still think there's some bullshit that you shouldn't have to put up with.

Exactly. The things that retail and fast food employees deal with on a daily basics does not pay enough.

Remember when the idiots were smashing jugs of milk then running? Two people playing bumper cars would seem a lot better than that, god help OP when real problems start.

#17 Unless they wouldn't stop and OP had to try to physically get them to stop and get off the scooters. That could get dangerous. Hopefully they didn't hit any stock in the process either.

Getting fired might not be what OP had in mind at work. Though OP is 17, work isn't usually the place for fun when you have to deal with people playing bumper cars in the aisles you'll be responsible for cleaning up.

Only 17 and you already have a "I'm not being paid enough" attitude? What else could you be doing. Your only 17. And all you did was yell at someone. Not like you had to clean up after then. Be glad you have a job.

Maybe it was more then just telling them to stop and it turned into a full argument because everyone in the situation is a teenager and they might think "oh he doesn't have any power over me. Who does he think he is"

I agree with you. You may not feel like you're getting paid enough, but you're 17. The majority of jobs for 17yr olds suck. I know because I'm 18 and jobs still suck

At 18 i had a great job, I actually still have that job two years later entirely because i enjoy working there. It can be physically demanding but its not a bad job at all. Not all jobs for 18 y/o 's suck

Wait you're not cleaning up poop, urine or vomit? Not sure you understand what dealing with children is about. Teens just act obnoxious sometimes. As long as the pick up the mess they are making or not shoplifting most things can be ignored.

Oh please. I agree work can suck and people can be assholes, but you're seventeen and working in a grocery store. You have few life experiences, little education, and your bills are probably zero. You're paid plenty.

Im 17 and i have to pay over 500$ a month for my truck payment. You cant just assume someones bills are zero because they are a teenager
brezzyanna 17
#28 A truck isn't a necessity. You could have bought a much cheaper vehicle, or not had a vehicle at all. Adults pay for food, housing, etc which are actual necessities. So yeah at 17, most people have 0 bills to pay.

Hence why I said "probably."

Bumper cars are fun why did you have to ruin all the fun!!!!

I don't see an issue here...why should you?
jclarkmond 1
The issue here could be that the author doesn't feel that as a teenager themselves they have any authority over people their own age, or being respected by those people. That can cause many frustrations for them.
