Today, I got written up for asking my coworker a question that I should have asked my boss to ask my coworker. Yay bureaucracy. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I got in trouble with my boss for doing what she wanted me to do. I guess she didn't think I would do it, so she did it herself. FML
Today, my boss yelled at me for leaving on time. After months of management hounding us about our overtime, I get in trouble for doing what I was supposed to do. FML
Today, at my new job, a coworker offered to help me mop the floors since she wasn't busy. I ended up getting written up by my boss for supposedly being too lazy and making other people finish my work. FML
Get out
Today, I was given my marching orders because I corrected my supervisor on something he was actually doing wrong. It seems I deserve this for "not learning to obey my immediate superiors." FML
Whiner!
Today, my boss yelled at me, telling me that I can't answer the phone anymore. Not because I do a bad job, but because a co-worker whined about it being her job. People call her and complain about how rude she is and then ask to talk to me. FML
Today, I got written up at work over false accusations that I didn't do some safety tasks. The same tasks that were done before I had even arrived. FML
You've got mail
Today, I got a write up from HR because the new boss says we have to check our e-mail everyday, and I missed checking my e-mail for one single day. FML
Wage slave
Today, I learned that asking your boss, “Am I gonna get paid extra?” when he asks that you chip in for your co-worker-who-just quit’s duties is not an appropriate response. In fact, I was written up for “insubordination” and “inability to be a team player.” FML
Mismanaged
Today, I got in trouble for following the rules at work. This is the third workplace where this has happened. Each time, when I provided the written document that showed the rules that I followed, I was told, "Well…" Don't make it a "rule" if it's really going to be a guideline with 50+ possible exceptions. FML
Today, I finished my last day of job training. At the beginning, the boss had told us to ask as many questions as possible. I was fired because I asked too many questions. FML

If they want to be inefficient that's their choice.

It's weird that rules like that are so strictly enforced...

it depends on the question. it may prevent a law suit.

Hey , you single?

Yeah I can't help thinking a little context could change everyone's perspective on the matter. like if the question was "can you stop being a ******* idiot and do your job?" perhaps it isn't your place to tell your coworker what to do. If your coworker is doing something wrong you should be alerting your boss and not taking matters into your own hands. Stop complaining for not following procedure and stop acting like you're the boss (If that is the case)

Thats a really good plan, quit every job when you have a disagreement with your boss

I agree! After all, jobs are easy to get. Everyone is hiring nowadays.

Everyones hiring? Where the **** do you live and when can I move my box there?

Boy that sarcasm sure is hard to figure out

I'm confused by that reply, the first half screams "SARCASM NOT ACCEPTED" but then you threw in the box joke and totally messed me up. Do you not get it and live in a box with internet connection? Or do you get it and just want to be sassy about it?

Workplaces sometimes have the most stupid rules!

What was the question?
kingdomgirl94 29
It might have been something that OP didn't have the authority to ask, like if they could operate a piece of machinery or sign off on something.

... I'm confused as to why my comment was taken so poorly. It was just a theory. Damn... tough crowd...

#62 because who would ask their coworker for permission for something?
Sandman366 6
17-But I don't have a staple to staple my 6 pages together to ask for more staples! I'm screwed now :(
lexiieeex3 32
62- it said they should have let their boss ask their coworker... There's more to it than asking a coworker's permission that's just stupid.

C'mon OP... it's common sense!
