Today, I got mad at my parents and threatened to run away. Things got so bad that I packed a bag and left, planning to hide in my front yard to teach them a lesson. It's been two hours, and I'm still standing behind a bush in front of my house while they make no effort to look for me. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my parents started fighting at a restaurant. Embarrassed, I went to the restroom to get away and stayed in there for about 15 minutes, knowing how long their fights can last. When I came back, they were gone. They'd ditched me, and left me to walk several miles back home. FML
Today, I got into a fight with my mom, and stormed out of the house. I walked two blocks before realizing that I have no place to go, and no friends to vent to. FML
Today, I overheard my parents planning on how to get me to move out of the house. It's my house. They only came to visit and forgot to leave. FML
Today, my parents were out and about, leaving me alone in the house. They said they would leave some lunch for me. I couldn't find it. After telling them when they got home, my mom got huffy and showed me that it was in a place I would have never thought to look. She then got even more mad when I was annoyed by this. FML
Today, I slipped out my bedroom window at night in an attempt to rebel against my parents. Then I realized that I have no friends and nowhere to go, so I tried to climb back in. I fell, broke my ankle, and laid in the dirt until my parents found me in the morning. FML
Today, my parents and I went to the movies for my mom's birthday. After the movie, my mom and dad got into a fight, and left me at the movies. My cell phone was dead, and my house was about 12 miles away. They finally came and picked me up, hours later. FML
Today, I tried to surprise my parents by coming home from college for Spring Break. I arrived to find a dark house, with all the doors bolted shut. After calling them, I found out that they have gone on a vacation to Hawaii for a week. I am now locked out of my own house, with no where to stay. FML
Today, I finally decided to stand up for myself and quit my crappy job working for my abusive father. I gave him a few insults too, to which he reacted by calling the police and claiming I'd threatened to murder him. I spent three hours in jail before they finally let me go. FML
Today, I moved out of my parents' house and started living alone. All of a sudden, my parents started requiring me to text or call them every 5 minutes to tell them where I am and what I'm doing, from 6am to 12am every day. If I don't, they will go looking for me, and force me to move back in with them. FML
Today, I decided to tan naked in a secluded part of my yard, so I wouldn't get tan lines. I even felt adventurous enough to leave my bikini and towel inside. This idea backfired however when my mom stopped home from work, assumed I wasn't home, and locked all the doors before she left again. FML

How the heck would you go to juvie just for running away from home? If your parents call the cops, they'll just find you and take you back home and then usually ask the parents (and the child/teen) why it happened at all.

Cops will believe the parents before believing the kid. Happened to my cousin. She was hiding in her treehouse, parents called cops and after they showed up she walked over to them. Her parents said she wasn't their child but some homeless run away that did something to their daughter. She ended up in juvi until her parents said yup that's our daughter. After she learned her lesson 3 months later.

178- That story is bullshit. She wouldn't have gone to juvie unless it was proven she did something wrong. And if it was discovered that her parents lied like that then they would be charged for lying to police, and quite likely have their child removed because that is horrible parenting.

No trust me he's loved. All parents whose kids threaten to run off know they will come crawling back. If the parents give luxuries(wifi,internet,phones) to the kids, and the kids pull this shit then all kids will realize what good they have and crawl back home home.

Your parents know you. If you are threatening to run away, they likely know whether you're serious or not, and where you'd go even if you *are*. They're not going to give into your little temper tantrum and go looking for you when you're making stupid and childish threats. You...are not their authority and they don't have to do what YOU want them to. The world doesn't revolve around you. Get over yourself. What they're more likely to do is call the cops on your punk ass and let them do the work. There's a lot of legalities involved, such as the label of being a run away, and perhaps a stint in the juvenile delinquency system. Do you seriously want to be considered a delinquent and punished more for your pitiful attempts at getting your own way? Grow up kid, we don't always get what we want.
