Today, I got fired from my job. When I asked why, all that was said to me was, "We don't have to disclose that information, but you did nothing wrong. It's just not working out." FML

Halloween

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.

It's not you, OP, it's them. I hope you and the company can remain friends at least. However, they didn't deserve you and were probably employing other people behind your back.

You're better off without them, OP

from my experience ( 8 years at a medium sized company ) it's likely that there were all sorts of office politics going on before you got there and you didn't get on the good side of one of the influential people, or your direct superior felt threatened by your competence and eliminated the threat.

You may have just not been up to their standards, OP. Sucks, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

If it was an at will company, they don't have to have a reason for give you an explanation for firing you. They could fire you for tracking mud into the work place after a rainy day and it would be perfectly legal. Sucks, but that's how it works in some places. Good luck on the job hunt

Do I smell a wrongful termination lawsuit???

Never been more glad that i'm not in the US. I had no idea this was a thing - i'm sure there is a legal requirement for a reason to be given when employment is terminated (and that reason has to be fair and reasonable).

That means they fired you because you're black, or gay, or atheist, or some other protected minority. Sue them.

The same thing just happened to me on Tuesday...

Those saying wrongful termination - Oklahoma is a right to work state, they don't need a reason.

Maybe they thought you 2 were in a relationship.

Unfortunately, they're absolutely right. From a fellow Okie, that's the fun of living in a right to work state, OP. :/
