Today, I got fired from my first-ever job. Via text. I hadn't even started the first day but I'm expected to drive an hour and a half to my now ex-boss's house to return the key. FML

My answer to that would be: #nope If he wants it delivered he can hire a courier. You're not on the payroll; don't get suckered into doing it!

Expected but no longer required.

OK more details are needed... if there are any. Not even day one and fired? How'd that happen?

She decided I was too young, but told me to lie about my age. A few days later, she makes up some excuse about 'security' and 'not wanting new teachers'.

Screw that, tell him if he wants his key, come get it!

reply back with "Yes I'll bring it back, who should I send the invoice to?" Then charge him a stupidly high fee as you would be a contractor. Make the SOB pay for what he's done.

If you read the post the poster was hired but hadn't started the job so there would be no check to deduct money from

And your ex boss better compensate you for the gas or come and get the key themselves. FYL OP

Mail it certified but don't waste the time or gas.

You have no obligation to drive that far to return them. You have to give them back, but let him come for them, or pay you to return them.

Make him come get the key, then lose it.

I'd just mail it

Put the key in Certified Mail. Text them the proof it was sent. Ask for a Return Receipt so you have proof of delivery.
