Today, I had my very first interview and pretty much got hired right away. Then I found out I have to drive 2 hours away for training. I don't have a car, license, or money. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, after months of searching I finally got a job interview. Too bad I didn't have enough money to buy a bus ticket to get there. FML
Today, I got a call from a job I had applied for. Everything went great until I realized I had applied to the wrong location, across town. I'm so broke, I went to the interview anyway. It will cost me more to pay for the gas to drive there to work, than what I will actually make. FML
Today, I got fired from my first-ever job. Via text. I hadn't even started the first day but I'm expected to drive an hour and a half to my now ex-boss's house to return the key. FML
Today, after three and a half years of working dead-end jobs with a bachelor's degree, I got a call from a potential employer in my degree field, who wanted to set up an interview. The problem: the interview is across the country, and I'm too broke to pay the travel expenses. FML
Today, I woke up, got dressed, drove for an hour, just to find out that I was fired. This is the closest job near me. FML
Exploitation
Today, after trying so hard to get myself back on my feet, I had an amazing interview and I was hired on the spot. I was so happy, until I read the position I was given, and it turns out I didn't get full-time, I got barely enough hours to even be part-time. FML
Today, I had a job interview. I got there as quick as I could, having to travel two hours into a city I'd never been to. When I arrived, they told me I was turned down for being too late. They'd rescheduled the interview an hour earlier and I wasn't notified of the change. FML
Today, I was called up about a job I'd recently applied for. I was overly excited to tell them I'd be there on Monday. Then I remembered I canceled my car insurance due to financial difficulties. I have no way of getting there. FML
Late
Today, I drove two and a half hours to a job interview. The interviewer never showed up or called. I sat in the hotel lobby waiting for an hour and a half. Even the hotel staff said they felt sorry for me. FML
Heaven knows I'm miserable now
Today, I got hired and now I have to work. FML

Have you tried communicating this to your new employer?

You should have told them you couldn't do it as soon as they told you. Worst case is they reject you, best case is they make accommodations for you, either way it's better to be honest than to try and hide it. I'd also suggest that any employer who makes you want to travel two hours each way for training (for what I assume is a low level role, it would be different if it were paid well) is probably not an employer you want to work for.

...yeah, you might wanna bring that up to your employer like now-ish.

........and you didn't think you might need to somehow make a travel arrangement beforehand? Both before any interviews, and if hired? Even if it was within walking or biking distance, in inclement weather, you really don't want to take a risk being exposed like that. Sorry, YDI.

Congratulations on getting hired? How about a friend or family member? How long are you in training for!

Usually for training, the company covers travel accommodations. To those telling OP they should have known that beforehand, companies don't usually tell you that you'll be sent for training until you've been accepted. It isn't that common at all! Good luck OP!

I get paid for travels and the job is pretty much across the road for my house. It didn't say I had to travel in "fine print" and boyfriend ended up taking me, thankfully.
