Today, I got a reply from a women who's SD card I found 2 months ago and tried to give back. Yesterday I formatted it. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I got yelled at by a customer for refusing to give a found credit card to a woman it didn't belong to. FML
Today, I deleted a load of junk that was messing up my mother's computer. I don't know how I'm going to tell her I accidentally wiped out all of her wedding photos. FML
Today, I went to a rock concert and met this amazing girl. We started talking and then swapped cell numbers. Five minutes later, she asks to see my cellphone, so I gave it to her. Once I got home I went to text her and saw that she deleted her number. FML
Today, I contacted a girl who dropped her ID at a club last night. I offer to drive 2 hours to return her ID to her. She is thrilled. When I arrive, she gives me a strange look, takes the ID, and runs back into her house. A two hour drive without even a thank you. FML
Trust
Today, I had to dump my girlfriend because of tons of trust issues that kept reappearing. Shortly afterwards, my credit card disappeared and I got to experience my first identity theft. All within 24 hours. FML
Today, I received an email from an ex who I haven't heard from in two years. Excited that it might be her asking if we could meet up, I opened it. It was a virus. FML
Today, I went to an ATM to see how much money I had in my account. I put the card in. It never gave it back. FML
Today, my external hard drive broke. My husband tried to fix it, and the computer told him he needed to format it. Apparently he didn't know what formatting does, so he did it. I'm a wedding photographer and had a full summer of unfinished wedding photography on there. FML
Today, I found a guy getting out of my car with my GPS. He started running and I chased him. We eventually reached a dead end and he gave it back to me. I took it back from him and said, "Sorry..." FML
Today, my girlfriend broke up with me through my birthday card. FML

Don't feel too bad. Honestly after two months you didn't think anyone would reply.

OP, did you backup the contents of the SD card to the internet first? Sounds like you didn't. :-( I do that weekly even for my own SD card, etc; never know WHEN any computerized device/ component will get damaged/ lost. Sorry, but the owner didn't deserve it.... :-(

Do not do this. If you ever find an SD card, there is always a risk of a virus. To open up the SD card and back everything up onto your computer? It's one of the first things they taught us in HS 10+ years ago. Do not plug in a random USB/SD card!

if the owner cared so much, they wouldnt have lost it in the first place.

Chiochan, there's a big difference between simply reading the directory contents/ file copying/ backing up a microSD memory card vs. actually executing possibly-infected programs on it. (That's why Windows disables auto-run whenever a USB jumb drive is inserted into a USB port.) Also, it's the function of A/V to prevent against viruses. Backing up your hard-drive/ cell phone is no different vs. execution of infected files/ apps. --30 Yrs Experience as Computer Hardware/ Software Engineer PS Don't understand the hate from everyone on my original post asserting prudence & common sense. Granted, not everyone would've realized the ability to backup jic before formatting, but wasn't I polite nonetheless in my post #1? Whatever....

Today, after two months of messing with this person who found my lost SD card, they formatted it. I probably should've just taken it back with a thank you. Now, everything's gone. FML

sd cards can contain viruses but the virus has no way of infecting a computer. unless you run autorun.exe. much like cd roms, this option should be disabled. this allows you to look at any sd card safely. fortunately, the women is an sd card, so she likely copied your sd card data on to herself. unfortunately, the grammar checking on this site is complete crap. the women WHOSE sd card was lost now has no information.
