Today, I gave my husband an expensive watch. The first words out of his mouth were, "You didn't use our joint bank account for this, right?" He then asked if I still had the receipt. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Rich people problems
Today, I got a gift from my wife. It was a beautiful watch. The same exact watch I'd sold to our local jewelers for 6k. She bought it for 10k. When I told her, she said, "Hmmm, I thought it looked familiar." There goes 4K from our joint account. I could’ve thought of 4000 ways to spend that money. FML
Be grateful, you nitwit
Today, I got my husband a really expensive Bulova watch. He asked for brown. I got him a brown and gold leather watch. He said it looked to much like the cheap $10 watch in his collection and asked if I could exchange it. I can’t - no refunds. Now we are fighting because he can’t express his feelings. FML
Findom
Today, my husband got paid. I checked our bank account and was shocked to see we'd only received $300. I called him, insisting that there was some mistake. He said he'd started a new bank account in his name so he could manage our money on his own, and the $300 was my "allowance". I now want a divorce. FML
Today, my boyfriend asked me to pick up a few things from the store for him while he was at work. After picking up everything he asked for, I wasn't left with much money so I used $50 from my account. When he got home he then grumbled about me spending all of "his" money. FML
Checks and balances
Today, I found out my husband has racked up $3000 on our credit cards, and ruined my credit score. When confronted, all he had to say was, "Well you didn't tell me when you bought that ten-dollar t-shirt, so I guess we're even." FML
Today, my husband of 3 weeks told me he doesn't want to be married anymore because I suggested getting a joint bank account. FML
Return to sender
Today, my watch broke so I casually mentioned to my dad that I needed a new one. A little while later he hands me this really nice watch. He says, "Here, this one's been lying around for a while." It was the watch I gave him for Father's Day. FML
Skint
Today, my husband took me out for my birthday dinner. When it was time to pay, he took out a stack of gift cards. I asked where he got them, and he said he got them as a bundle at Costco, and saved sixty bucks on the meal. He then got annoyed with me when I told him it made me not want birthday sex. FML
Who? Where?
Today, my husband bought me a beautiful pair of earrings for my birthday, to match the necklace he'd spent months searching for online the previous year. What necklace? He gave me a watch he found at Walmart last year. I wonder who the lucky girl with the necklace is. FML
Help yourself
Today, my boyfriend took me to a very elegant and expensive restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. When it came to the check, I volunteered to pitch in half, which he rejected by saying, "I got it". Little did I know was that "I got it" was short for "I got your credit card." FML

Sounds to me like you don't know your husband very well. You deserve it for not only being completely oblivious as to your husband's preference when it comes to spending money, but also for thinking that spending however much money amounts to "an expensive watch" was a good idea in the first place.

You'd think appreciation would be his first thought..

A "present" from a joint checking account is a bill - not a present.

My dad did the same thing at Christmas! He asked where and how much it cost and wanted to return it. Luckily for me it was from Walmart but I feel your pain lol

While I'm sure he has his reasons to be unhappy about the gift - his reaction was ungrateful. There are ways to be diplomatic in these situations - and he wasn't. He is in his right to return it, and he is in his right to say 'I don't think we can afford this right now.' Also, those who think their wives 'should know them' are delusional. You learn a lot by living with a man, but you don't have ESP. (Which is why some men are surprised their wife is upset when they get a vacuum cleaner for her birthday.) Plus - tastes change. My husband said when we got married he'd like an expensive watch he'd seen for maybe our 10th anniversary. Now he doesn't even wear watches - he says his iPhone works just fine for that. :) When you get a gift, say Thank you, give a hug then apologize as to why you won't be keeping it if you need to (because it affects your mutual finances.) Never make another person feel stupid for thinking of you - because they may stop thinking of you all together!

Thats what I was taught in fact one birthday I felt real bad for having to return the gift my aunt Patty got me which was a DVD of the Chronicles of Narnia the Lion the Witch and the wardrobe because earlier that day cause we're allowed to stay home on our birthdays my Aunt Carolyn got me a copy and I had already open it my Aunt Patty was cool about it though the money went towards my first RPG

Or maybe it's just that he knows they can't afford the expensive watch and she was using bill money to buy it for him

in our economy, we cant afford to splurge on nice watches or anything too excitable. we have to watch what we buy and keep money tight till we come out of this national debt slump. he had a normal reaction but he shoulda at least taken the thought of saying thanks honey or wevs.

Not the best reaction, but he may have a point. He must have been worried about how much you spent on such an aesthetic (useless) item. If money's an issue, you can't blame him. He shouldn't have reacted that way but you have no right to get all bitchy with him (which you surely did).
