Today, I found out that my parents don't know the difference between a foreign person and a deaf person. They've been yelling at our exchange student for the past 2 days. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
I'm right here
Today, I discovered the terrible things my parents say about my wife while visiting them. They speak in Arabic around us and I've never really been able to understand them. Guess who hasn't only brushed up on his Arabic, but spent the last 6 months teaching his wife… FML
Delulu
Today, my mom scolded me for ruining my sister's "vacation" here. She just got deported from abroad, and was only gone for 2 months after falling for a marriage scam. Now she deludes to herself that she was born and raised there, and claims not to understand our mother tongue, calling it third world primate language. FML
Today, I realized the guy I like is not deaf. This would normally be good news. However, for the past two weeks I assumed he was deaf after seeing him use sign language. I've been openly talking about him within earshot. FML
Kids will be kids
Today, my daughter told me she is pregnant. The father is the foreign exchange student who just moved back to Germany. FML
Today, a deaf customer came to my work. In an attempt to connect with him I introduced myself in sign language. He just rolled his eyes and pointed at my name tag. FML
Today, I bumped into my parents at the mall. They didn't tell me they were around. I live 5,000 miles away, in a different country from them. FML
Admit it
Today, I went to a drive through with my housemate. She got our order wrong and angrily yelled at the teenager who handed us our food, making her cry. My housemate can't fully speak English because of a learning disability, and she refuses to admit it. FML
Charming
Today, I realized my coworker can't comprehend English, or any other language. When I mentioned this to a coworker, they accused me of being an ableist. This is the same person who insults him to his face, knowing he can't understand her. FML
Today, I overheard my parents arguing over who had to tell me that I'm adopted. FML
Today, I was eating dinner with my family. My parents didn't want me to hear what they were talking about so they decided they would spell out the words so I wouldn't understand. I didn't. FML

It's a habit! Our exchange student didn't understand squat for English, so when I was trying to explain things I found myself getting louder! :/

Faith in humanity LOST, why would you raise your voice for a deaf person?!

Apparently, the OP doesn't know the meaning of Deaf... Yelling probably wouldn't help there, either.

I have been an exchange student too, and I can tell you it's not just your parents! I had people yelling at me about how my day was for two months.

I don't think you know how to talk to a Deaf person... Yelling doesn't help us hear or understand them better!

Yelling wouldn't work on a deaf person either.

My aunt did the exact same thing.
