Today, I found out my ex bought a digital camera, an iPod, and a large flat-screen TV, all purchased with the alimony I'm paying him. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I found out that my boyfriend is getting back together with his crazy alcoholic ex-wife who frequently cheated on him. In addition to this news, I also found out that he maxed out all my credit cards. FML
Today, while clearing stuff out of the basement, I found my ex-wife's old electronic diary device from the '90s. I found the charger, powered it up, and had soon read all about out she'd been cheating on me for almost half our marriage with the guy she's now married to. FML
Today, I found out that the money my husband said he loaned to his "mother" actually went to the purchase of new lingerie for the woman he's cheating on me with. I just got the bill from the department store. FML
Today, I turned on my boyfriend's computer and saw pictures of all of my credit cards, front and back, and several of my parent's credit cards. I looked in his e-mail and found receipts for items which had been billed to me and delivered to him, including golf clubs and my birthday gift. FML
Co-parenting
Today, I confiscated my daughter’s tablet, phone and laptop after I caught her exchanging nudes with boys. My ex then called me in a rage, threatening to take me to court over “stealing his belongings” since he purchased them. No concern for our daughter’s behavior, just him wanting the stuff. FML
You've been served
Today, my recent ex-boyfriend stopped by my house with a well-dressed man. He reached into his pocket and handed me records that "prove" he never cheated on me. Oh, and the man next to him? His lawyer, who gave me a summons to court over payment for the items I smashed when I dumped him. FML
Today, my girlfriend bought herself a brand new iPad and iPod Touch, and returned my aging iPod and Kindle, which she constantly steals for her own use. She considers it my Valentine's Day present. FML
Today, I figured I needed to clean my room. I ended up finding my $135 calculator that I'd accused my ex-boyfriend of selling for gas money. That's also the reason I dumped him. FML
Today, I found out that the money that my wife claims went into repairing her car engine actually is going towards helping her pay for a divorce. FML
Love costs a fortune
Today, I found out that my now ex-fiancé was still married to her ex throughout the entire relationship. What I didn't realize was that I ended up paying for the divorce, and 3 months later she got married to someone else. FML

People do marry people they want to stay with forever. But then real life happens, circumstances and people change, and it can become impossible to be together without being miserable. Check your judgemental, ignorant, uninformed attitude, dude. Let people handle their own affairs without being sneered at.

#2 and #13, the point of alimony is that you give money because they need it. If he's buying things that aren't necessities, then it looks like she's just losing that much money.

Alimony is supposed to be for couples where one spouse was unemployed for a significant time (presumably to raise the children) or if the marriage in some way or other prevented the spouse from being able to further their career or get an education in order to have a decent job. If spouse A quit school to raise the children because spouse B's career was better paying, and they split up, spouse A is now stuck with no education and no work experience because of, essentially, a failed contract. Should spouse A get stuck pumping gas for the rest of their life because they sacrificed for someone who no longer loves them? Or look at it this way: a marriage licence is an agreement. If one person says, "I will give up my career and stay home in order to free you up to work however you like, IF you will support me financially," and then the kids grow up and the other spouse changes their mind, they have essentially let down their side of the agreement. Alimony is designed to compensate for that, at least long enough that the spouse can get it together. If the ex is doing well enough that the alimony check is just for luxuries, I can see why you'd be pissed off. It's supposed to be for education, or to support the person until they can get a career going. It's for real life, and necessities, it's not just meant to pamper people who have opportunities and work credentials. You always hear about alimony being abused by people who don't really need it, but I'd have to see some statistics to know exactly how many. And to those of you dumbasses screaming "you should be married FOREVER! You PROMISED!" I say... welcome to real life. It would be nice if people could always love each other forever, but people change. Relationships are complicated. People can be totally in love and years later find they make each other miserable. It doesn't mean they're bad people. That's just life.

I am laughing over this. If this was a man saying this about his ex wife everyone would be siding with the female. Alimony can be spent on whatever the hell the person getting it wants. Unlike child support she can't tell him what to use it on because once it's in his hands it's his money. Obviously the OP dislikes not being able to control what he uses it on or paying it in general.
